Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeThere are some similarities for sure in size and both have a flat roof. The biggest difference is SMU breaks up the student section, while Duke has an entire sideline section dedicated to the students. The student section is better "put together" as they hand out chant sheets and give player info. Not saying our students are not excellent, just not at the same level...yet.
With all that said, the Cincy game was just as loud as Cameron gets in a major game. DBB
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at Duke
In comparison, wouldn't the students be in the red seats and the alums behind the benches?
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeIt takes years to get what Duke has created at Cameron. Given how little our students/fans have had to cheer about until this season I am blown away by the atmosphere we've been able to create at Moody.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeCheer sheets are the worst thing in college hoops. Contrived nancies

too bad the Maryland / Duke is a thing of the past. Maryland got scared and left ![]()
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeYeah, hoopmanx, who needs cheer sheets when all you're going to chant the whole game is Duck Fook!? Muck Fichigan doesn't have the same ring, though.
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at Duke
Actually students sit on both sides of the court. There are several rows of "buffer" fans between the rowdy students and the opposing bench with its supporters. The side opposite the benches is the preferred side for students because that is the side shown on tv. The bench/camera position is flipped in Cameron from most other arenas.

Moody was students the whole way round until the 80s IIRC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeControversial question - if this thing sustains for a few years, do we rip out the red seats and fill the whole bowl with students? I say we absolutely should, but won't

While they have been spot-on this season, this sums up the mindset of the athletic department for the past few decades. Hopefully they will continue to pleasantly surprise me "[College] referees couldn't manage a White Castle." -Mark Cuban
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at Duke
You want to rip out $3,000 seats to give them away to students? ![]()
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeThe fact that we are 'compared' to Duke is a major step forward. Last year, we couldn't even be compared to a Terlingua High School enviroment.
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeThe best we would ever do would be flipping them, so that the students are uninterrupted and face the benches. Not sure that is altogether a great idea, since they get plenty jazzed as it is, but it would remove them from 3 feet from the visiting coach which might be what an AD would want to do .
We will never have a net number of red seats smaller than what we have now. Something has to pay for this place and it aint the students. We are doing pretty well right now I think. One idea would be to reduce the "give away" and other seats behind our bench to a row or two and add a few rows of students at the top. another is to use the extending bleachers (ala the mavs) that come out at an angle and add a few student seats in each end zone). I would guess they will wait another year and make sure this is sticking before we spend much money on rearranging.
Re: How Moody is just like Cameron Indoor at DukeThere needs to be more organization between our broken up student section, there needs to be more rhythm with our chants as well....One of my pet peeves is when the "S-M-U" or "Defense" chants pick up too much pace early on and then sputter out before the end of the possession.
We could learn from Duke's pace with chants, and their overall organization on the chants on both sides of the ball...although I think a simple "ooooo" is always suitable on defensive side of the ball #GodFather #Tempo
