The cynic in me says he could be an academic question mark. By offering and then not getting due to academics, June could blame the school for not letting him get the players he wants, even though no one else could either. Someone convince me I am way off base because I do not like thinking this way.

Sober as your mother. I haven't seem the kid play, neither have you, so who's to say if he's Tom Brady or they confused him with someone else and he sucks.

I'm just going with what's on paper. He has no offers. June is NEVER ahead of the power curve.

It's an easy way to say he's recruiting harder if no one else is interested.i can see it now.......

JJ "Hey, you guys, I got a 4* QB"
COC "what's his name?"
JJ "His name? That Cali kid I think"
COC " he has zero FBS offers June....."
JJ " it wasn't that other people didn't want to offer him, it was that they knew that he wanted to be with a QB guru and wouldn't beat me out. I mean if I was a NFL GM, I would've taken Stephen Kaiser in the first round"

Stallion can speak to this better than I can, but if he enrolled here and his Rivals rank stays the same (~250) he'd be one of the highest rated players- if not the highest- to sign here since the DP. Stallion laid out the reasons why he might not have as many offers yet but I bet he will have more soon- us getting in there early and offering first can't hurt though. He's been Tweeting/Retweeting about it all day: https://twitter.com/kkearns15

Like I said, he could be good, he could be a dud, I have no idea, his lack of any single offer is just what's concerning to me for such a "highly rated" player.

You can look at it two ways, we offered a 4* star kid or we offered a kid with no offers.

As has been reiterated many times on here, judging offers as opposed to stars is a much better way to gauge a players ability and their prospects. If you take a 2* with 20 P5 offers and a 5* with 1 P5 offer, I'm inclined to pick the 2*

How about judging a player when he sees the field.

This is ridiculous. JJ does stuff we all wonder about, no secret there. But for all of the [deleted] and moaning about not going after guys with stars, people are going to get upset now with an offer to a 4 star QB? Apparently JJ is in the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" pool. Some people refuse to be satisfied with anything if it interrupts the hate-mongering. Maybe this kid doesn't have a lot of offers because he has a job that prevents him from going to camps and junior days. I'm with 86. He'll get more offers.

True, but Blackoutpony was right in calling me out. I think I did say that Severt would get more offers and he did not. If he doesn't get more then it would be a concern at that point. It may not be hate but concern.

The market for 6-5 QBs who run 4.8 or 4.9 -isn't what it used to be. Just a fact that when so many teams are running spread offenses that many teams are looking for Dual Threat-QBs. Just a numbers game that might return big dividends

You don't have to go to junior days and camps to get offers. Must coaching staffs go to high school football games or Spring practice to actually see them play. If Rivals knows about this kid then other coaching staff especially on the west coast do as well.

THE LAST THING WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IS THE QB.

If there is ANYTHING June Jones has proven he can do while at SMU it is take a Quarterback and make him productive. JJ McDermitt, Kyle Padron, UT's washout, it doesn't matter, the QB will be turned into a darkhorse NFL candidate.

When was the last time we got a 4* OL to look at us, or a 4* DL, at least one who isn't looking to transfer? That is what worries me, not who is under center.

"I got an offer from SMU," explained Kearns. "It came out of nowhere, just a normal day at school and I had never talked to them before. I went to school and my head coach told me that he wanted me to call a coach so I could get my first offer."

Disagree- JJ's inability to groom a QB during his tenure here has been perplexing, esp. after what he did with Brennan and Chang at Hawaii. Our teams have only been as successful as the defense during June's time here, and I wouldn't have expected that.
