AAC Tourney: 4 seed isn't so bad

Postby SMUstang07 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 7:03 am

Am I the only one who would rather have the 4 seed in the AAC tournament versus the 3 seed?? Playing another bottom feeder provides no benefit at this point and UH is dangerous enough to make me nervous. Would rather have tougher road to boost our SOS IF we can't get the 2 seed. Would give us more potential to move up a seed in NCAA tournament too.

Whether we are a 2,3 or 4 seed we need to perform well, i.e. get to the semifinals, to get a shot at a 6 or 7 seed in the tourney, which is the most important factor from my standpoint.

I understand your point, but one important point is that at a 4 seed (or a 5 seed which is also possible) you could be playing Memphis at home which is tough.

If you get a 3 seed or better you have likely already gotten another win or 2 against high rpi teams so I think that is better for rpi purposes.

Not "scared" of anyone if we are playing up to our capability and Nic/Markus don't get into early foul trouble. That being said we are 2-0 with both Houston and UCONN this season. (we may also be 2-0 with Memphis by tourney time but if we are our chances at the two might be better).

I don't like seeing any teams we've beaten twice...they are good teams and eventually they"ll figure us out enough to get us unless we play our best. Give me a bottom of the barrell team first please. If not I'd prefer Houston first, UCONN second and Memphis at home third.

Finish the regular season with wins over Louisville & Memphis for a 25-6 record. . . As far as tournament play (conference, NCAA). You play who you play, and you take care of your business.

just play from a better position...playng Memphis again at their place within a week would be the only wrong team IMHO.

I want to win the regular season conference championship, which is still possible. Win out and make a run at the final four.

I don't understand this logic. Once you win the first round game, you are playing the tougher opponent anyways.

His point is that as 4 seed you would get to beat 3 high rpi teams if you won he tournament. As a 3 seed you "only" get to beat 2 high rpi teams.
