Also-AAC has the most teams ranked of any conference. The conference tourney is going to be awesome

Completely agree with you on UK. Their best win was in December vs. Louisville.

After that...Providence, Tenn., LSU? Yikes

5 teams being ranked in the top 25 means something in national respect for the AAC going forward. ESPN and CBS will probably be giving our conference some good pub today.

Based on ranked teams, would the AAC now claim to be the best conference in men's basketball?

I think we can make the argument that the AAC is the toughest conference to win in all of college basketball. The best might be, PAC-12 or Big XII.

Number 18

Postby Treadway21 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 1:16 pm

Who would have thought when we played UVA in Corpus that they would win the ACC and be ranked 5th in the country and that we would be third in conference ahead of Memphis and UConn and ranked 18th.

What an incredible journey this season has been. I am still having difficulty processing how good we have become.

Thank you Larry Brown and thank you to the whole team for performing so well for SMU.

Top to bottom Big 12 is the best. Damn the AAC is looking good though. I hope some AAC teams get the chance to whip up on some Big East teams in the Big Dance

I think rankings are important. The more exposure SMU and AAC gets, the more voters will look at our conference and AAC. SMU and AAC needs to gain respect. So by our name continually being in the national spotlight we are starting on that long journey to becoming a respectful team and conference in the nation's eyes.

I think right now we are probably seen has a GWU or a FGCU from a few years ago. A novelty team that won't do anything in the coming years. We want to become like a Gonzaga or Wichita State, so people will take us more seriously--a team that is good every year. Obviously I want SMU to become a powerhouse, but that type of respect takes years to build.

Conference RPI would say a lot differently.
