orsini may have technically hired lb but he did everything he could to prevent it.
he may turn out to be the greatest coach ever at smu and we did eveything we could to prevent it. if that doesn't say smu i don't know what does.

Apparently JJ and Turner were in his corner, so not all of us thought like Orsini. I honestly wanted him from the beginning as did many of us I bet, for the PR if nothing else. And what a joy of a decision it turned out to be. SMU deserves this.

I think having Calipari, Self, Turgeon, and other hoops head coaches calling Orsini really helped. But the thing that helped the most was the fact that we just ran out of candidates. LOL.

Good article. And happy to have it be in the New York Times. 2 thoughts:

1. Larry's quote about the kids not knowing him would be funny on a shirt. "The coaches know me. The kids? They Google me up."
2. Amused that the NYT mentioned Mark Cuban without a title but felt it necessary to mention that W is a former president. Is the average person really likely to know who Mark Cuban is rather than George W Bush?

Absolutely here in New York. Many never actually believed Dubs was president.
