Inconsistent officiating

Postby SMULaxer » Wed Mar 05, 2014 10:35 pm

Before I coach a lacrosse game, I always tell the refs, let's have a fun, safe game. Please, however you decide to call the game, do it consistently for both teams.

That was not the case tonight. Louisville in the bonus four minutes into the second half. They don't hit the double bonus until three minutes are left? The problem with this is our boys don't know what a foul is.

The game lacked rhythm and it contributed to a poor defensive effort in the second half.

I'd love another shot at these guys next week.

That's what was so weird about the game. A lot of touch fouls on the perimiter- Louisville players were the master of the "pull away shoulder while dribbling shoulder flop"- but it was a free-for-all in the paint. Russ Smith rendered the officiating moot, though.

The one call I really questioned was Nic's third, on the and one. He literally put one finger on him. A few seconds later he gets his fourth. Had an impact on game, I have no question about it.

In the end Louisville was the better team though. Now let's finish strong and beat Memphis!

after watching the same lack of discipline for Nic Moore all season-I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt. The 3rd foul didn't hurt it was the 2nd and 4th that killed us and he earned both

Agree with you on that. The 4th foul was just stupid.

I heard a lot of complaining about the officiating but I thought it was fine, if not slightly better than average. We played very sloppy and both the refs and the Cardinals punished us for it.

And yeah, I think it was pretty clear that Nic's fourth foul was a serious mistake. He and Larry were really going at it right after that one. At one point I thought he wouldn't be coming back into the game at all.

4th was a foul and about as dumb a foul as you could get. 3rd was not. i think he was frustrated with the third and did not control himself - and that cost us a shot at the game.

Next year you have two guys who can really handle the ball and this situation does not happen. I want Louisville in the tourny next year in the worst possible way.

This. But first I hope we get a shot at them in the AAC tournament this year.

that is very possible. i just can't be at that one - and next year i wouldn't miss a tourney game - nor will i miss one this year.

Watched the game on tv, so I got a good perspective in terms of calls. Felt the refs did a fine job, there were a few fouls called on Louisville that weren't fouls at all. Overall, I don't think the refs had any hand in the outcome of this game.
I miss Troy Matthews.

yeah i have to slightly disagree. THey were really tight out at perimeter, and really no called the interior. It was a bit weird to watch.

That said, number 2 beat us. No way around that.
