What fools, in fact they are considered too redneck for the SEC - and that takes work!

Lots of moving parts to all of this:

Our student section had some clever chants towards Louisville

Our student section taunted Russ Smith as he was throwing up on the sideline

Some of our players gave up at the end - not saying I blame them, it was a disappointing game but nonetheless it's never a good thing

Louisville dunks and taunts the student section - student section responds by throwing garbage at them. Somewhat deserving in my opinion.

Obviously Rick, the team, and the coaching staff deserve it - every visiting team does. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I love that we have a reputation as a venue where the students get under your skin.

If you've never been to Louisville, it's not exactly poor

That is home to the Kentucky Derby...their money just resides in actual Ponies.

Anyways, F em, I wanted that one. Would be cool to see SMU go into the tourney in a top 5 seed with a somewhat easy path to the Sweet 16 relatively speaking.

When the cute sideline reporter caught him on the way to the locker room after the first half Pitino made a crack about the crowd and this being "a religious school.". No doubt the crowd got to him.

Agree, even though it's bush league I would have thrown it down too

I agree as well. It wasn't fun to watch but if you're gonna poke the bear....

Harrell should not have done that no matter how mean the fans were to him. That is a diss to smu team and Larry brown. At that point we weren't fouling and had conceded the game. Honestly pitino should have apologized to our coaches for it.

Then the fans should apologize to him as well. It's not just one sided. If we can't take it we shouldn't dish it out. If I were Harrell I would have tried to tear the rim down. Besides as someone reported that we were still boding him up at that very point in the game. We need to stop crying about this and move on.

The fans don't deserve any apologies whatsoever. Larry brown does. Fan comments do not justify a player disrespecting his opponent. Who cares that our students were yelling at him? Part of the game. Another part of the game is don't dis your opponent which is Larry brown and the 12 guys in uniform not the fans.

Well, except for the fact that the dunk came off of a fast break originating from Sterling Brown making a steal and going for a bucket while Louisville was graciously trying to dribble out the last 20 seconds. PERFECTLY appropriate for Louisville to then push the ball back up the court and ram it down our throats. They tried to do the classy thing, we didn't oblige, we get what is coming to us.

This stuff works both ways. The crowd goaded Harrell into exhibiting poor sportsmanship. Hey it happens. It is what it is. Harrell had two choices, be a good sport and take the high grown in wining or be a bad sport and tarnish the win. Life is full of choices. Some are harder than others. Dunking the ball was easier at the point in time than exhibiting sportsmanship. Life goes on.

Huh? The losing team never stops trying to score. The other difference is there were only 10 secs left when Lville got the ball at that point the winning team always dribbles it out.

I spoke to Russ Smith after the dunk. I told him he was a great player and had a tremendous game but that the Harrell dunk was unsportsmanlike and classless. He hung his head and said "I know." He truly seemed embarrassed by the actions of his teammate.
"This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"
"That poor kid has to be wondering what is dad doing."

Put it this way, I don't care what the Memphis fans yell toward markus Kennedy on Saturday, if he throws down a nasty dunk at the buzzer with us up 11, we should be embarrassed and LB should apologize to pastner. Sorry no justification for it.
