Well, except for the fact that the dunk came off of a fast break originating from Sterling Brown making a steal and going for a bucket while Louisville was graciously trying to dribble out the last 20 seconds. PERFECTLY appropriate for Louisville to then push the ball back up the court and ram it down our throats. They tried to do the classy thing, we didn't oblige, we get what is coming to us.

Agreed.

The thing is, LB would apologize even before the clock hit zero

Rebel10 wrote:Then the fans should apologize to him as well. It's not just one sided. If we can't take it we shouldn't dish it out. If I were Harrell I would have tried to tear the rim down. Besides as someone reported that we were still boding him up at that very point in the game. We need to stop crying about this and move on.

Agreed. It was a great atmosphere, and I give the students huge props for the volume, the energy, and staying the entire game. But if we're going to chant that Applebee's crap (rather than the much more clever and amusing squirrel stuff, even a funny clever cheer about Smith's barfing would have been fair game), then we have ZERO, and I do mean ZERO ground to ever refer to players, coaches, or opposing fan bases as classless. We forfeit the right to complain when we do that crap.

Plus, Sterling went for the steal on the previous play, instead of letting the clock roll -- Lousiville was content to let the clock run out and shake hands until Sterling did that. So if we're going to play 100% when down by 11 with 20 second to go, then although I didn't like it, that punk is entitled to play to the end too.

Disagree. Class acts stay class acts no matter what happens during the game or what gets yelled from the stands.

I believe we are still guarding him at that point and boding him up. I will check the ESPN3 replay to see what the case was.

I watched on TV and they panned to Pitino after the dunk. He looked FURIOUS

Sterling was doing what any team does in that situation, try for the steal but if you don't get it don't foul. It's up to the winning team to play along and dribble it out. So you guys are cool with it if markus would have done that at uconn?? Hell no.

I guess I fundamentally disagree. Louisville had the ball, up by 11, and was dribbling out the last 20-25 seconds of the game. The game was over. They were trying to do the right thing. We kept playing- great. Don't be mad then if our opponent does not then try to casually dribble out the clock again to have the ball stolen away. I am 100% fine with the dunk given the circumstances and b*tching about it doesn't change the fact that Louisville came into our place and handed our asses to us.

He was not guarded. That happened 5feet from me.

If he were at UConn and the fans were ridiculing us hard I would not have much of a problem with it. If they can dish it out they better be able to take it.

I don't want an SMU player doing that. I like to think the team holds themselves to a higher standard. But I have zero ill will towards Louisville for the way they finished out the game.

Yes, absolutely correct. It is all about the choices one makes. In my opinion, Harrell did not make the right choice. It probably felt good to him at the time and it was the easier choice to make. Sometimes making the right decision is harder than making the wrong one. I just chalk it up to a young competitor. Harrell is still young, hopefully by the time he is a Senior he will have learned to make the right decision.

Seems to be no problem with classless crowds but major problem with a person that reacts to a classless crowd jesture or saying. If a crowd does something classless to get under a player's skin and that is what the crowd is trying to do they why cry about it when the action achieves the desired result?

Ok Rebel let's just go ahead and throw sportsmanship out the window. Seems to me you are saying all is fair in love an war. When does anyone take the high road anymore? If the winners can't take it, who is left?
