Nothing to do? Memphis Zoo, Overton Park, Greenline, Shelby Farms, Cooper-Young, Overton Square, Grizzlies, Red Birds, more live music than you know what to do with.

Sounds like you didn't know the right stuff to do.

I live in the L.A. area now. I haven't been to Memphis since 1997. When I was growing up, there was nothing to do. Sounds still about the same . . . just glad you didn't say Beale St, I don't feel like pulling lead out of my [deleted].

Let me just put it this way . . . Memphis is a great place to be FROM. Other than Graceland and Memphis in May (where it's hot and humid as [deleted] by the way) and an occasional ride on the Memphis Queen on the Mississippi, there's really nothing to do in comparison. (they closed Libertyland for god's sake!). BBQ, on the other hand, no other place better in the world I'll give you that.

Your opinion isn't Gospel, and 17 years is a long time.

There is plenty to do and they give very good support in BB. Football is also supported even with the recent down years. They will be there and I would be shocked if the crowd isn't into the game.

And mrydel and I will be there as well. Its gonna be tough keeping mrydel out of a fight, though.

HUGE game...it's Senior day. (plus SMU is ranked and it's a Saturday)

I've been to the Memphis Zoo (although not since late 90s), the San Diego Zoo, the National Zoo (DC), Santa Barbara zoo, and the Wildlife Park in Encinitas. It's not even on the same level as any of these.

Bottom line: Memphis has great BBQ and music. And that's about it. It has very high crime, racial issues, and terrible weather. The best things ever to come out of there are BBQ, the blues, Elvis, and me. And the last 2 aren't there anymore and nothing new musically has come out of there in a loooong time. (and you can FedEx yourself the BBQ and avoid all of it). :-)

 every single game ojaipony! I think if we we're playing Tennessee Tech you would predict us to lose by double digits  just playin' with ya

Sorry, I've just been very closely following SMU sports since 1989. We always suck until proven otherwise. We've had a great year but I don't think we win another one (Memphis at Memphis is extremely tough and then if we draw Houston in the AAC tourney, I don't think we beat them a 3rd time . . . which all leads to a less than great NCAA seed and we lose in the first round . . . just going off my history . . . same thing happened last time we had a very good team - I know, I was there).

Next year, I'm hoping will be different though. Maybe we break through to the 2nd, or even 3rd round!

I think you've picked us to lose just about every big game, including RI?

If Louisville had hit 3's against Memphis like they did with us, they would be in sole possession of first right now. As long as NM and MK don't get into foul trouble AND they don't go on a 3pt tear like some other teams have against us, we win! Pony Up!

Bottom line: you haven't been here in 17 years...if you went in 97, you haven't seen the Memphis Zoo.

Now I KNOW we're going to lose. In fact, I think we're forfeiting. I hear the team didn't make it to the plane and Nic Moore's ankle is broken. MK will go pro. Nic, Sterling, and B Moore are all transferring and Eman is backing out of his commitment to go to Sam Houston State per a tweet from Deion just now.

My wife just reminded me we were last there in 2001. I tried to forget. Yeah, the zoo was there (and I went many times as a kid). It sucked. Just like the Tigers and it's redneck, big time program wannabe fans. And Memphis State is just a commuter school about as bad as Houston (probably worse).

There. I said it.

Can we call a truce here. At least until the game. The Memphis poster hasn't been rude to us. Can't we all get along for a while. :D

lets flip it…if a fan were coming to Dallas for a game…what would you tell them to do? For the record it's 75 and sunny when they come

Sure you were...sure you were...it's like my parents telling folks about Honolulu. Never mind the fact they went in 1989, I'm sure nothing's changed.

I make a rule never to insult someone's home, just because a place isn't for me, doesn't mean it's not perfect for someone else.

I remember hearing the same stuff about St Louis and New Orleans...I had a blast there...everyone said Nashville was awesome...talk about a boring city, but that's just my opinion.

"Memphis State" I love my retro Memphis State stuff...got a signed Memphis State Hardaway jersey that I'll never part with.

"Redneck" I'm far from it...liberal democrat who hates trucks, fishing, and hunting.

I just got done telling some Arkansas fans how I believe Larry Brown is the best coach in the NCAA right now...I just don't don't get the idea of trashing someone's home on the internet.
