The opposite is true. The PF mass-exodus came after this place became June's sunshine-rainbow-circle-the-wagons-ville. There was this place where you count your posts...

Wrong. This site started during some really lean years for both football and basketball, and the euphoria over JJ's hiring was understandable, considering where the program was before his arrival. Yes, the site was a place for generally supportive fans, but there always was criticism for Bennett, Tubbs, etc., but the hate in recent years is embarrassing and reflects poorly on SMU and its fans.

SMUer was referring to the mass exodus after the police raided this site and squashed any and all elements of negativity. It's come around again but there's no one left so you can't ban every user.

Just to set the record straight, we've never banned anyone for being critical.

The only thing(s) that will get you banned from PonyFans are the things we list in the User Agreement which you all agreed to when signing up, such as racism, sexism, personal attacks against individual student-athletes and posting commercial messages when you're not a sponsor.

You may mistakenly believe we banned some people when they got overly critical. But it wasn't criticism of the job a coach was doing that got them banned. More likely it was the language used, personal attacks, etc. As long as you keep it civil and constructive, feel free to be as critical as you like.

I think it was the confetti of black horseshoe threads that occurred, not user banning

Basketball was not too bad when this site started. We were in the middle of a 7 year stretch without a losing season. We made the NIT that year. We had 2 future NBA players on the roster. We had been to the conference tourney semi-finals the year before. We had a reigning conference POTY.

This was the critical site originally. MM's was the sunshine site.

When? Circa 2001/2002 PF was very much sunshine and MM very much realism

I remember joining the MM site and everyone there talked about the sunshine site called ponyfans. Then MM craters and I moved over to PFs.

Oh, ok. That sounds right. I got em switched. I do remember getting into a few very heated arguments with jtstang at that time. Jon Embree intervened, saying that we'd really like each other if we met face to face. We did and he was right.
