Tulane Fans Are Going to Have to Dig Deep

Postby Stallion » Wed Mar 12, 2014 9:57 pm

check out this interactive view of Tulane's new stadium which will be funky to say the least.

To get a prime 50 yard line seat in lower deck on the home side Tulane fans will be paying a high price in licensing fees. $50,000 - $100,000 over 5 years plus tickets (up to 4 seats at $300 each a season)-not even a suite although the most expensive area will have "plush seats"

$2,000 a year plus tickets for "upper deck" 50 yard line-homeside

$1,500 a year donation to sit in corner/endzone homeside

My God- I know Tulane is an affluent school, but do they have anywhere near that kind of demand for football season tickets?

Apparently on the backside of this prime seating area there is concourse with extra amenities and privileges plus view of Downtown area-not enough space for suites though

Wait- they built a new stadium in 2014 that doesn't have luxury suites? That wasn't smart. Hell, we have a pretty apathetic private school fanbase and still added more suites before last season

The Stadium is shoe-horned into the only available spot of campus

That stadium looks fantastic and is a great fit on that campus. It is bizarre why they didn't build any luxury suites or boxes. Hopefully with the new facilities Tulane can be an asset to The American. New Orleans is a great city and much like SMU the right staff could make Tulane into a very formidable mid major program.

Can't wait to play them there. Will be a lot more fun than the Dome (and perhaps a better result for SMU with our new Coach at the helm vs. Tulane.

Love the checkered end zones.

Maybe for the inaugural season but no way that demand holds up long-term unless they're winning at a ridiculous rate (or bringing in big-time opponents).

Tulane will be improved. The staff is recruiting well. We should be evenly matched with, if not slight underdogs to, the Greenies.

But those prices are ridiculous. Several alums may pay those prices, but TU faces the same challenges that we do, and they will be hard pressed to fill even the smaller stadium. It will be better than the cavernous Dome, however.

For selfish reasons, I'm glad TU will be joining the conference. At least I'll get to see BB once a year and a football game every other one.

Basically the NIMBYs in the area threw a [deleted] fit over the stadium being built and got its size reduced.

I think we can all agree that Ford is a great stadium that fits into the campus perfectly, but with the renovations to Moody you have to start thinking that here in the 5-10 years a renovation to Ford may be needed. Not a complete overhaul like Moody but maybe a few modernizations would be nice.

Flood insurance will be costly so maybe it is on stilts. Looks nice in the cartoon version. Hope they do well.

That's a lot of money for a stadium that will only put 4,000 people in the stands.

I hate this conference 8)

I don't think we should make renovations unless: 1) We start winning 8+ games a year or 2) to entice a great coach to come to SMU
