Truly baffling decision...

Postby MustardBuzzard » Sun Mar 16, 2014 6:25 pm

So I'm a Southern Miss alum that's been living in the Dallas area for the past several years. I was going to b*tch about my Golden Eagles being left out (25-6, #31 RPI) when the NCAA decided to completely f*ck with everyone's heads and leave out SMU. I can no longer even begin to complain. Tennessee? Seriously? BYU? Give me a freaking break. NC State? Please. One of the biggest snubs I've ever seen. To all my SMU friends, I'm truly sorry. You guys got screwed. And this is coming from someone who is a fan of a school that gets screwed over routinely. And yes, I created an account just to post this. If my team doesn't win the NIT, I'll be rooting for you guys. This decision is pretty unconscionable.

Proves the "Only at SMU" adage more than anything I can remember.

The only think that was a bigger injustice than us not getting in is Louisville being a 4 seed. That is the ultimate slap in the face to our conference. btw, thanks for the post Mustard.

I just don't understand the inclusions of NC State and BYU. SMU clearly passes the eye test as being superior to both of those programs. Maybe if SMU marketed itself more as a program that has "a national Methodist following" they would have gotten a bid. It's tough being a fan of a mid-major program. Even now, when SMU is in between being a mid-major and a high-major, it's tough. NC State... In the words of Charles Barkley, "Just turrible."

The NCAA is not at fault but the selection committee is. They did not have an AAC member on it.

per Couch.

Committee Members:LSU (and former Duke) AD Joe Alleva,Utah State AD Scott Barnes,Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione,Big Sky Conference commissioner Doug Fullerton,Michigan State AD Mark Hollis,Conference USA associate commissioner Judy MacLeod, Delaware AD Bernard MuirWest Coast Conference commissioner Jamie Zaninovich.Wake Forest AD Ron Wellman - ChairmanGeorgia Tech athletic director Mike BobinskiTwo Acc members, including the chairman. Nobody from the AAC. I'm sure the CUSA chairman is not a fan of SMU or Memphis.
