Well, you don't get it then. I have no expectations for this team, but I do expect a fan with as much "maturity and class" as MrMustang1040EZ and that other sunshiner attribute to you to put the koolaid down for a second and take an objective look at the real world. Your suggestion that Bennett's "style" is to "improve slowly through baby steps" is nothing more than a guy making an excuse for a five year record of 14-1,874 who just got stuck with the same coach for another year. Have a different opinon if you like, hell even like and pull for Bennett. But please do not delude yourself that our dismal last five years is going precisely according to the coach's style. By all accounts you're better than that.
I was surprised. I didn't think Phil was going to survive this. And perhaps Orsini didn't like the coaching crop that was out there or his guy didn't become available.
And maybe the idea of paying two buyouts (Tubbs and Bennett) at the same time was just something that the school didn't want to do. Right or wrong, you have to consider that.
Bennett blew it with this schedule this year. But there better be an offseason from hell and a focus like no other. If we roll out any duds next year like we did for UNT, you could get a Ken Bunting (fired UNC) situation on your hands.
And we can all agree on this: The proof of Bennett's infrastructure will be revealed against Tech, TCU, So. Miss, UCF, Houston and Tulsa (EDIT: although UH is losing QB Kevin Kolb and UTEP (home game) is losing QB Jordan Palmer and Tulane (home game) is losing QB Lester Ricard -- just thought we should know this).
We know TCU, Houston and Tulsa and 2 of the 3 (So. Miss, UCF, Memphis)will be on the road.
So this program better bring it in 2007. No excuses for the staff. Get it done or Get out!
