Did Bamba play tonight?

As for making the NIT tournament, I doubt it with the way we finished off the season.

I hear ya. Most everyone thinks it's gonna take at least 3-4 full years for Doh to turn things around and I've thought NIT in two years from now, hopefully Big Dance in three. But, with tonight's showing and with the good class coming in, I think NIT should be very realistic next year. Of course, the freshman are gonna have to gel and mature very quickly, but I'm very optimistic of what we can expect.

Oh yeah, Bamba didn't play tonight. I haven't seen any recent updates, but I thought they were saying he could be back for the tourney. Has anyone heard anything new?

I was very pleased with this game. We played as well as our talent allows and Memphis played down to our level, hopefully some of that being caused by some good defensive pressure.

The best part, however, was the constant praise being given out by the announcers as to:

1. The great crowd support (whether it was due to Memphis attendance makes no differnce when the announcers credit it to SMU)

2. Constant praising of Doherty and his upcoming class

3. Numerous references to SMU being a player next year and in the years to come.

4. No real hype of Memphis other than some praise for Coach C and his ability to coach.

It played out on CSTV as an ad for SMU basketball. Hopefully there were some potential recruits watching and listening, although with limited CSTV coverage that may be too much to hope for.

Probably only UCF and Houston have a chance at the NIT by going to the tourney finals, and then UH would play on the road while UCF may get a home game. ??

Dez couldn't get his shots to fall (1/8) but had good ball movement.

Ike and Rack were really awesome, and Pearson did quite well especially considering he just came back from an injury. Does #33 want back the missed dunk? It was a good chance for #33 and #0 to get PT that they normally wouldn't get in a high pressure environment.

There were a lot of missed shots on UM's part but I liked Calipari's coaching.

Great teamwork by SMU last night and those threes at the end really kept the crowd into it. Good show by the Pikes as well.

Wow...what a game! As some one that was expecting at 20+ point blow out, I was quite proud of our guys last night. They showed great heart in their effort, especially for a team that was 2-8(?) in their last 10. I have several "hopes" from last night game:

1. I hope Devon, Donatas and Ike take great pride in their effort last night and remember how effort is so very important in everything you do.

2. I hope the guys returning for next year remember that game and play with the same enthusiasm and intensity

3. And finally, but I think most of all, I hope every Mustang fan that was at the game remembers how exciting and energetic it was with that many fans. Sure it's not even close to a sell out, but 3,000-4,000 fans can really make for a fun night. Also, I was proud of the fans response when the Tiger fans started cheering, we cheered right back and took our home court back over. This hasn't happened all season...remember the UTEP game??? They drowned us out! If you know another Pony Fan...make sure they show up with you next year!

No (on a miracle NIT bid). Barring the miracle run that ends with Coach Doherty cutting down the nets, there's no bid for either national tournament. The obvious answer is: just win the damn thing! (If we do, Coach Doherty will be hailed as the best coach on the planet -- at any level, in any sport.)

So glad I made the trip up for the weekend. I can't remember the last time I've been that proud of my team. Crank it up one more step and shock the conference in Memphis!

Everyone who was there needs to remember the noise level and carry it over. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring you co-workers, bring your neighbors and show up LOUD. Red/Blue game, football games in the fall, soccer games, basketball -- everything.

I'm moving back to Dallas over the summer. I'm coming up for the Red/Blue game, and can't wait for all the games in the fall.

Special thanks to Ike, Devon and Rack for all your work over the year.
Great game, Ponies!

From my comfortable couch in Alexandria, Virginia, I was very impressed with our hard work and composure. That was a ticky tack call on Rack that fouled him out and probably cost us the game. Spencer worked hard but missed the dunk and couldn't hit a free throw with a gun to his head. Crowd was great. We were more careful with the ball which was very good. We made them take long shots on a night when for whatever reason they were cold and that helped us stay close. I've seen them burn the nets from three range in other games, so we had a little luck. Doherty made a statement Saturday night that this program may very well rise up in the future. I would love to see us win at least one game in the Conference tournament to give us something to build on after this game.
