I'm willing to bet there will be differences in the data (heights, weights, etc.) for some of the recruits, compared to what's on scout/rivals. There will probably be something with a lot of the players that says "so-and-so is a two-star guy on rivals/scout," but that's so the folks who pay money for that stuff can feel good about themselves. What the coaches say will differ from the recruiting sites, and holds a hell of a lot more value.Throwback wrote:You kidding me? Where do you think SMU is getting all of its information on the kids they're going to give to the press? They've been hunting down info. on Rivals and Scout for weeks on these kids, just like everyone else on this board.
SMU's just covering their rump in their press release so they can slow-play the information. It's not a very "top 25 in all that we do" approach, but that's the way it goes for now.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
Go SMU!

Rivals & Scout have their purposes, but the films don't tell the whole story. The other school site I frequent had a completely film break down then what you'd see at the scouting services and illustrated why the coaches liked those kids better then a couple of random vids. I know coaches don't claim classes a bust at signing day functions, but they do have tend to explain why they like a kid and often can illustrate visually, in a way you won't see on Rivals.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I honorably retract all previous comments.
Cadillac - obviously, I didn't come across well. What I meant to relate was that the SID staff will probably be including Rivals and Scout ratings and information in their releases. And why not? Using them as resources for information just like most on this board do. [/i]
Clearly the SID office had put together BIOS on each and every person who signed, and perhaps 8-10 others that might have signed, well in advance of TODAY, in anticipation of the press conference.
That's how it's done...jeez
