Yeah, I believe we dont need to bring Bailey in at all. I believe the WR to replace Wilkerson's production is already on the team.Cadillac wrote:While I'm all for agreeing to disagree, I am very curious as to who you think we can bring in at WR that would be better than Bailey. OK, thats not what I read in your previous post. It sounded like to me that you thought Bailey was more talented then any WR we currently have, but if what you said above is your true feelings then thats fine. I dont agree with it, but your opinion is a logical one.

Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
that's right, I forgot about your Haynes Mancrush.
If you're excited about Bradley's upcoming season you're right. He should be tremendous on the outside, and the loss of Wilkerson should get him on the field even more. It will be interesting to see what happens to the TE playbook that was reported to be taking shape, but either way Haynes will be seeing a LOT more time on the field this season and I'm confident that he'll do well.
With that said, he can't play two deep at all four wideout positions. So hopefully Bailey will be out there too.

I feel pretty good about Robinson, Johnson, and Beasley. DJ is set to break out this year and fulfill all the messianic expectations he arrived on campus with.

Maybe I'm not getting the Bradley Haynes love. Sure, he's huge, but never saw much more then possesssion speed, at best. Did he blow up in Spring ball or something?

Just like he wouldn't suspend our two best WR's for the last two games of the season for the same reasons?jason54858 wrote:If Jones felt that Devon Bailey had any potentail at to be the "best WR on this team" he would not have cut him. It would be scary if Bailey did have that potentail and Jones still cut him wouldn't it? Cutting a player lose meant the coaches felt in their hearts that this player has no potentail to help their team now or in the near future. If Bailey losed wieght and thinks he is now committed to attend meetings on time thats fine, but you cant go from a player with no pontentail to "the best WR on the team". Dez Byrant had problems attending meetings up in Oklahoma State. You punish them internally you dont cut "the best WR on the team" and send him off to Texas A&M-Commerce.ozfan wrote:Jason Bailey was an allstate wr in high school, the old coach in his wisdom moved him to safety where he bulked up and lost his speed. He is down to a good playing weight now and also now back to his natural position. Friends who saw him play as a wr have said him is very good at that position.
He was cut for being late to meetings and class not for ability.
I hope Bailey does find victory in whatever he does. I dont wish any ill will to the young man, but for you guys to say there is no player on this team on the roster right now capable of replacing the production of Wilkerson is laughable and idiotic.

If Jones would suspend the all-time record receiver for SMU and a future 3rd round NFL pick, you can bet the farm he'd be willing to suspend anybody on the roster.

Re: With the possibilty of WR Wilkerson,
I appreciate the winning attitude the news coaches are trying to instill.
But I'm afraid to say it looks like the growing pains aren't quite over for this team. We were already thin in a few spots, so it's particularly disappointing to see players letting their teammates down by becoming ineligible. Hopefully they'll learn.

I think he is trying to say alot of the talent at USC is from ''Ghetto Watts''. I am not famliar with LA (partly because I never been there). Is the USC campus close to Watts? Is Watts its own city or is it a nieghborhood within Compton?

Sorry, this is a total throwaway with regard to the thread.jason54858 wrote:

USC is not actually in Watts, but that's the line the UCLA kids like to use. USC is next to Watts as UCLA is next to Beverly Hills. It's just stupid tribalism, akin to our making fun of TCU for being in low-class Cowtown, while SMU is in Highland Park.
With regard to Haynes being slow and not getting the "love" for him... I think that's a fair criticism. Otherwise there wouldn't be reports of his being tried out at a new TE position. Yet in spite of that, I think that he'll provide a decent option on the outside. Though I believe, (and here's where Jason and I disagree) if Bailey's on the Team, he'll be starting at WR by Mid-Season.

Remember, Patrick Fleming also was moved to TE in the spring, so there might well still be a TE package in the playbook.Cadillac wrote:... It will be interesting to see what happens to the TE playbook that was reported to be taking shape ...
