For everyone that keeps looking for the "black rice" in the package, I will remind them of the following:

Peruna was a commercial success for a retail store. It was associated with the success of the program for a number of years...in basketball, football, swimming, track and tennis.

However, just as clothing styles have changed, so has Peruna. I has come to stand for atheltic failure for almost 25 years, not success. For many younger fans it is a runt, a small pony, a children's ride at the fair. It means nothing to the players. They find it an embarrassment and wanted a change to something more agressive that they could associate with a winning program.

We began to loose Peruna 25 years ago when we permitted the status quo of mediocrity to continue without challenge. We need to allow the program(s) to return and let the newer alumnia and players chose their own, rather than hang on and fight over a tradition that became mired in failure--why not start a fight over the loss of Ownby Stadium?

as a practicing Choctaw I am kind of offended. Seminoles? Really?

While we're at it, I really don't like that small private school is connected to the SMU football team. The campus is very landscaped and not very mean looking. I think we should change SMU to a large state school to be more intimidating with more students!

The student senate voted almost unanimously for Peruna. What a bunch of hired guns (Jones, players) think is irrelevant. The actual SMU-student body and alumni- are what matter.

It really should be the Choctaws involved in the blessing. They've got a casino nearby.

The casino in Durant is the worse casino of all time. It's nice enough, but the slots are the tightest slots I've ever encountered since freshman year of high school. Later I found out they pay a fine to Oklahoma every month because they don't pay out enough, but it's worth it just to pay the fine.

Add to that the ante on blackjack, and it's total BS. Do not go there.

If Peruna is associated with losing as you say, couldn't it be said that the Mustang Band and the songs they play are as well? Perhaps it's time to make a change with regards to that as well...........
