is there precedent for the NCAA granting an extra year due to an injury that happened this "late" in the season? wasn't it during the 3rd game of the year? seems crazy they would allow an extra year in that situation, seeing as if you play a few plays, you lose your redshirt status...

I said he would never get it, then studied the rules and thought it was 50/50. Good for CUSA.

It has to occur within the first 20% of your games played and they will round up. They had 12 games so 20% is 2.4 games and they round up to 3. So as long as they had not played more than 3 games he was eligible from that standpoint.

The Thadsta and I watched him go down right in front of us last year.

Very ugly.

I'm happy for him as he appears to have a bright future if fully healed.

Let's just beat UH and keep moving up.

This is a good thing especially if he is up for the Heisman and we beat their butts!

everyone is excited because we'll hopefully beat a more highly regarded UH team however...we've only beaten them 1 time since 1993. yikes.

here's to hoping for the strongest pony team in a long time next year.

I can't believe the NCAA did something helpful, nice or useful for a non AQ School. I am just so shocked I am speechless. Unless they are planning a major investigation into UH's athletic program - then they can say how good to UH they were.

Good for Case though... Not so sure this is good for us, but good for him.

not to mention our defense just totally getting lit up by them year after year. post dp, they have averaged nearly 40 points per game! (35 if you remove the obvious outlier immediately post dp...)

The basis of the appeal by UH had nothing to do with this season. What their appeal was based on was his freshman year when he was redshirted behind Kolb who was a senior. They are claiming that he actually would have played that freshman year, except for an injury that wasn't disclosed until after this season. The only reason the NCAA grants a 6th year of eligibility is if two seasons are lost due to injury.
