Re: Hate to Say I told you so
I got a kick out of watching a three man rush from a service academy beat double teams, swat the ball out JJ's hand, and generally get way too much pressure. You can start with the dreadful play of the offensive line and then work back to who's taking the snaps. They may be the most experienced offensive line in all of college football, but if you aren't really that good, that isn't going to change simply because you haven't been any good for 190 starts collectively.
Re: Hate to Say I told you so
Much like the triple option was Navy's base play all night, our base play seemed to be a bailout pass to the wide receiver 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage. With Navy in a zone all night, the defenders were looking at the ball/play the entire time giving them plenty of time to react towards the ball (adding the fact the throw took so long to get to the sidelines) limiting us to minimal gains.
It seemed like Navy's defensive game plan was to sit back with 7-8 defenders and make JJMcD throw accurate passes underneath. To me that is the perfect defense against an inaccurate and immobile QB

Well when you can get pressure, QB swats, and flushes rushing only three undersized academy defensive lineman...why not sit 7-9 back?

Re: Hate to Say I told you so
Is there something going on with this team that we aren't privy to? They have looked flat from start to finish against USM, Tulsa, and now Navy.
Is the horrible qb play affecting the entire squad? Why do they look so down all the time? We were losing 3-0 and, looking to the sideline, you would have thought Navy just killed our dog and stole our girlfriend.
O-line play stinks...really stinks, and this was supposed to be our biggest strength. Numerous times I saw Brooks and Turner basically give up on the play, stop blocking their man, and as a result a 3-man rush by Navy got pressure (and sacks) on the qb. Inexcusable. Have some pride fellas.

Re: Hate to Say I told you so
The most obvious, and I suppose concerning, was on a third down in the first half where Navy only rushed three, and their left DE abused our RT, and our RG slid over to try and help, but their DE easily broke through both of them and swatted the ball out of JJ's hand just as he was releasing.
Would it have been completed? Who knows...but the visible frustration and anger on McDermott's face was certainly noticeable.

Don't they have Rusty Burns?

Re: Hate to Say I told you so
when a team does what Navy was doing you need receivers and RBs that can make plays in open space-not really their strengths. UH receivers and RBs would have had a Track Meet just like Southern Miss. We need more home run hitters at RB and Receiver who can take a 3 yard pass and put it in the endzone.

Totally outcoached the entire game, and totally embarrassng to lose to a team of 85 walk-ons who are more disciplined. Keep in mind, we have now lost to Navy twice and Army once in the last twelve months. Is that progress Coach Jones?

TCU runs a multiple formation offense and it is pretty good.

I am beginning to feel the O line gave up on the team when USM kicked our butts and they realized they wouldn't be getting championship rings. They haven't looked the same since then. NO FIRE, NO HUSTLE and certainly NO TEAM LEADERSHIP.

Right after UCF is when that player wrote The Daily Campus, p*ssed about home attendance. Was he speaking for the team? Did the coaches know about it beforehand and approve? Don't know. But you're right. There seems to be something going on.

Going down with the ship with Padron?
2010 Passing Efficiency-Padron-Sophomore- Ranked 42
2011 Passing Efficiency-McDermott-Senior-Ranked No. 75
You struggle with a young QB so he can excell as an experienced Junior and Senior. There has been nothing wrong with Padron's development except for wildly, unfair expectations for an underclassmen QB.
