Like I said, the houston game we really have no shot with McDermott and Co. I rather have Line rested up and taking it to Rice, so we arent embarassed.

Time for others to step up. That's why you recruit for replacements and depth for your starters because of these type of injuries. It happens to every team C'mon Williams lets do it!

all the practice reports about Jared were great during the preseason. it sucks, but i agree, let's see what williams can do.

the worst that can happen is we meet everyone's expectations and lose.

not going to the game, but looking forward to watching it.

Will be a real test for Williams if he starts. Williams is a true freshman listed as 5-9 195 compared to Line at 6-1 230. Williams does not have the typical size of a SB. Beyond being a bruising runner, Line is also great in pass protection, and his size definitely helps. A shame Darryl Fields transferred out.

Temporarily convert Kevin Pope back to RB w/ Jared Williams?

No need to keep messing with positions like that.

Shawnbrey did well in our offense even though he was a poor blocker. I'm sure Williams will do fine if he knows his role. Plus Houston has a weak run D.

But Shawnberry got pulled for Line in obvious passing situations. My bigger concern is losing Line's blocking skills. If we fall behind by a substantial margin and are forced into passing alot, our O-line has not proven to be consistent in protecting JJMcD. I think Line has by far been the most consistent pass blocker out there. If their D-line can just pin their ears back and only focus on the QB, that could spell big time trouble...

Be careful what you wish for in Houston's weak run D. Navy had one of the worst pass D's in the country as well (well, at least before last week)

he played with a broken back last season, if he doesn't play they will have to watching to make sure he doesn't try to get on the field.

I hope Line plays. BUT, Williams has all of the tools. I know he'll make us proud! Watch and see!

SMU RB Zach Line will not play in Sat. showdown at Houston or for the rest of year. He suffered a torn tendon vs. Navy and needs surgery.

I hate to hear that. As much as I want my Coogs to win, I always want every player on both to come out of each game healthy. I also like to beat a team at their best.

You arent getting that Im afraid. Our team is pretty shattered either physically, emtionally or both.
