If we are going to base this on football results only, please explain to me why the following teams are in BCS conferences:
Iowa State (B12)
Washington St (Pac12)
Northwestern (B10)
Vanderbilt (SEC)
Duke (ACC)
I get your argument, but unless we go to a Premeire League format where teams move up and down based on winning seasons, it is all about TV Market size for the next deal with NBC/Comcast/ESPN, etc.
Every conference has a few teams that consistently finish with losing conference records. Big East is no different.

Sure but the point is to better the conference not dilute it was worse teams. Everybody wants to be in the SEC because its the best which makes its the most stable. The BE needs stability not more bottom feeders

I don't know why the Big East is adding teams after the ones they added, but Memphis and Temple brought more to the table than any other possible. Frankly, financially speaking, their basketball teams are both worth more than our football team, or quite possibly Athletic Programs as a whole - Memphis has been in the top 5 nationally in attendance in the past 5 or so years. If Temple had made the effort earlier that they are making now in football they wouldn't have been kicked out of the Big East to begin with, a conference they helped to found.
Please also understand that there were MANY who thought the same of us when we were offered. I believe one sports commentator asked the question 'How do you get 12 PHD's in the room and come up with SMU?'
This conference, no matter what anybody says, is on VERY thin ice right now, and if bringing a couple of schools makes it stronger in ANY way, we need to get on board and make it happen.

Good point I was thinking that if the Big East added the Highland Park Scots to all sports for the TV market and Southlake in football only the conference would be really strong. The Big East would be hitting home runs to left center all day with Memphis, Temple, HP, and Southlake. This conference is HERE TO STAY BABY!!!!!!!
GO BIG EAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What high school would best compete in the BE?

Every conference has at least 1 private school for accounting purposes. I don't remember the exact details, but something along the lines of private institutions are not required to disclose as much as public and if a conference has at least 1 private then it can choose which reporting standards to follow.

I think Temple sucks, say what you want about them in Div II but they got kicked out of the BE because they sucked and the BE wants them back. They haven't proven anything in Div I to say that they can compete. Memphis hasn't been good in BB since Calipari, without that snake they won't be good again. Memphis and Temple where terrible additions, they should have picked up Southern Miss for football only and Tulane for the New Orleans market. Memphis is a trash city and Temple is well Temple
