Big East
Someone please try to explain to me how Temple and Memphis are seriously going to improve the Big East. I don't want to hear about basketball and don't try to justify signifigance of quality basketball programs, explain the football side of this and FOOTBALL ONLY.

Re: Big East
and the possibility the Big East might host the Liberty Bowl because of Memphis relationship?
Re: Big East
I don't have an answer for you in terms of Memphis (TV Market or not, that program needs a total overhaul to compete again), but Temple has of late been trending upward, and Addazio seems to be keeping them on that trajectory. It's a gamble based on upward potential, but then again so are several of the teams recently added.

Well if you were going for the strongest Football program over several decades it would be Southern Miss-but they don't fit the profile. They would fit the eventual development of a strong Southern Football conference though but that's not the direction this is going.

I don't think any of the additions can be justified on football only.

Re: Big East
The people that are whining over adding Memphis and Temple are missing the whole point of conference expansion. It isn't about basketball, hell it isn't even about football, it is about one thing and that is money.
Re: Big East
Sure but those two teams bring down the quality of play, nobody likes to watch bad football teams. Thus TV audiences will be lower equaling less potential money. People like watching winning teams, just because you're located in a city doesn't mean that the city is going to watch. We're a perfect example of that, we have potential but nobody watches us.
