Due to NCAA regulations, white unis have to be worn in all away games unless the home team agrees to wear white (which the home team only does if they are like LSU and want to wear white at home anyway)

Given that we usually do a white out for the first home game, why don't we wear our white uniforms and ask the opponent to wear their home jerseys? I can't imagine the SFA'a of the world would care all that much.

Nobody in their right minds would agree to do that for an early season game in Dallas because of the heat.

We actually did get Marshall to agree to wear their dark uniforms at Ford in November 2010 so we could wear white.

Typically a night game so theoretically it wouldn't matter.

I agree...dont love it...but if they do it...every single thing should be black....shoes, socks, belt, pants, jersey, helmet, facemask, mouthpiece, elbow pads, sweat bands, make the helmet a very glossy-shiny black...EVERYTHING! Maybe we could do just a white outline of the jersey numbers and a white outline for the Pony on the helmet so even the numbers and Pony would be black!

Please, no black uniforms. We have no tradition of black school colors or uniforms. This is becoming simply a 'me-to'. We need to build on our traditions, not emulate others.

Black jerseys have nothing to do with tradition at any school...every school does it for the same reason, and I think it works.

Would I prefer one game with a "special throwback" type jersey? Of course, but every big boy wears a special jersey for one game during the year, so I definitely think we should too. It creates a little extra buzz around what is otherwise just a another random CUSA game that everyone outside of this message board could give two [Gary Pattersons] about..

Anything we can do to add a little extra buzz or attention around some weeknight conference games should be welcomed... hopefully we go with an awesome NIKE pro combat throwback down the line

We do have a Black pony as our mascot!!!

1) I would love to see us go back to Blue as our primary home color as part of the move to the BE.
2) I would love to see us roll out a throwback uniform (Doak Walker era) once per year (say Houston or TCU) to celebrate our heritage (Heismann, bowl wins, and 1935 Nat'l Championship. Plus, I still think we were National Champs the year Perv State was "named" champion).

All outstanding ideas. My favorite is "red" but I like the idea of a switch to "Big East Blue".

Special uniforms get people fired up on both sides of the issue.

I'm cool with a special (one time only) occasion uniform as long as it's done right. I would love a throw back, but if they do black it should have a lot of blue (& some red too) so it doesn't even remotely look like Texas Tech or Maryland. The Armed Forces Bowl jersey/uniform was an abortion.
Kids love these power ranger unis, and really anything is an improvement over whet we have now.

But, my preference is always red and blue, period. Why mess with a perfect color scheme?

Yes! Red > blue > white > black

The whole tradition thing is getting old. Recruits don't want to see that anymore, but give it a few years and classics will be back in style yet again. If Nike could incorporate the horse more in the uniform, I think that would be great. The blue does look nice, but represented losing after the pony express left and death penalty. June is also superstitious so if he went to 3 straight bowls in red, wouldn't you stay with what is working?

Black uniforms for SMU is like painting flames on a Porsche Carrera.
