Lots of focus on that donation instead of the TCU program.
So why wasn't Ford's donation for our stadium done anonymously? Lots of people make large public donations all the time. Not a big deal. Everyone involved at TCU did the right thing in this matter and this may have just been Patterson's way of showing he was all in on the decision...and that he cares. Let it be.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Good job by Coach P and the TCU family. They did the right thing, put a young mans health and well being above all else. Now the work begins for Casey and his support group, lets hope and pray he is successful. There will always be time for football.

Don't give Fatterson too much credit yet - all official reports are saying the donation will come from the "football program", and not necessarily from Fatterson himself.

i don't like the kid. never have.

that being said, i hope he can do what he needs to in order to get himself right. too many kids get off track at that age and never it back on the rails. i hope he does.

that being said, i hope TCU loses all their remaining games...

probably because he knows it's eventually going to come out how many players busted prior drug tests.

I still wish this would have happened before our game with them.

No Pachall for the SMU game probably would have been the same result. Pachall is a good QB. But his running backs and offensive line are terrible. The score wouldn't have been too different.

Can we return to our talk about wanting a new head coach? This Pachall suspension is getting us away from what we need to focus on - Sonny Dykes.

Hope Pachall gets his life straightened out.

Hope Patterson gets buried in the bowels of the Big 12. Gonna be a long season if you get manhandled at home by Iowa State.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Class move and the right thing to do.

Just as an aside, David Stanly had drug problems and SMU actually paid for one of his rehabs (clear violation of NCAA rules at the time). I think this is one area where the NCAA needs to use some common sense and allow schools the option to help their players with rehab.

F Pachall and F TCU and F Patterson. You guys are way too sympathetic. Patterson and the TCU fans have been obnoxious jerks to SMU over the years. I am actually glad TCU is losing their QB and I hope they lose ever single game the rest of the year.

Weren't several of you saying Patterson wouldn't do anything? That it was all about football? That if he cared about the athlete he would kick him off the team? Then he goes and does the right thing for the school, the program and the athlete and you chastise him? I hate TCU as much as the next person but this was the right way to handle it, and if I'm a parent of a prospective student athlete I'd be very impressed by this move.

Coach Patterson and his wife are very hurt over this and will be donating $100,000 to a drug and alcohol abuse support program at TCU (TCU Recovery Support Group).

He said that he didn't suspend him for three games because it wouldn't have helped him.

Very passionate about getting him help.
Maybe if he would have been suspended for admitting to drug use PRE-SEASON it might have helped.

I seriously doubt it was fatterson's call, more likely it was the president, chancellor and

maybe the a.d., but he just had to go along with their decision and make it look good.

It could have helped. Who knows.

The fact is, Patterson followed the rule book. 1st time offense = Casey receives counseling.

It's comments like these that clearly show you're actively looking for ways to nab at Patterson. Patterson follows the rules. Well he should have done more. Patterson removes Pachall from the team (when he should have only been suspended for three games), meets with his parents to arrange a rehab facility, and donates $100k to prevention/support programs (encourages people to do the same). Not enough.
