Decision is in re: Casey Pachall
Coach Patterson met with Casey, Casey's parents, AD Chris Del Conte, and Chancellor Victor Boschini. Casey will withdrawal at TCU and enter an in-patient rehabilitation facility. Patterson worked with his family to find a facility.
Coach Patterson and his wife are very hurt over this and will be donating $100,000 to a drug and alcohol abuse support program at TCU (TCU Recovery Support Group).
He said that he didn't suspend him for three games because it wouldn't have helped him.
Very passionate about getting him help.

Hopefully Casey gets straightened out, whether he ends up back in football or not.

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Definitely the right call. Hopefully he can come back next year and play. He has a bright future if he can get past this.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

First thing they've done that shows they care more about kids than football games. Lets see how long it lasts.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Thanks, FF,
This is best for Casey and gives him a path to return to college football. I am impressed with process and the decision to focus on the student.

It is good to see any program putting the kids above the program. In the long run no one will care what the record for TCU is this year, but what it means to Casey will last forever. Blessings to him and his family. This may be a long road for them but I hope it works out.

The donation...what a PR move. Always looking to get a pat on the back. Why didn't he make an anonymous donation to the recovery program? Why did we have to know that he made the donation?

That may be a little nitpicky, although you are certainly allowed that opinion. I applaud the move today and say if he and his wife want to donate money, and stand behind what they believe in, what's the harm in us knowing that? To me it shows that he cares about the individual, and not just the jock.AustinPerson wrote:The donation...what a PR move. Always looking to get a pat on the back. Re: Decision is in re: Casey Pachall
Because he WANTED everyone to know he was giving $100,000 and that he is a real nice guy, that's why.
Long live Inez Perez!

Re: Decision is in re: Casey Pachall
I agree, probably a little picky to call him out on a donation on a message board. I don't know, I guess I just wish people would make more anonymous donations. So I shouldn't attack him on it. But the flip side is that if you're looking at it from a PR standpoint, it was a brilliant move on his part. That's a big donation. Lots of focus on that donation instead of the TCU program.

Re: Decision is in re: Casey Pachall
Whatever the case may be, the QB is rightly out, and they are completely screwed for the season. Schedule:
@Baylor L
TTech tossup
@OSU L
@WVU "big-time" L
KState L
@ UT L
OU L
They may squeeze out an upset here or there, but I don't see much there.

Because right after he said that, he encouraged others to do the same. He basically mentioned this is a disease, let's all hold hands and help those whom need it, and here's a way we can help those in our own backyard.AustinPerson wrote:The donation...what a PR move.
