The gears began meshing for GG last week. This week they are more in sinc. By next week, he may be fully operational.

Thought I was watching Aaron Rodgers for a second when Gilbert hit Thompson for that TD. That was an amazing throw. Can't wait to see him play like this against a team that isn't awful. Next week, have some demons to exorcise in Orlando.

GG has improved every single game this year... we could win the C-USA championship if he continues this trend

5 straight halves of good football for Gilbert. He was good in the first half until he got to the red zone.

Release the last two games has been much more compact and quicker. Much, much better release point and it is showing with his accuracy. Take a look at the el paso game and this game and the long windup is gone. This is really, really important for him and us moving forward.

There is always going to be another setback once someone regains the confidence. The real test is how quickly you regain it back. It will be really interesting to see how he handles a difficult game next week at UCF and how it recovers from anything negative that happens.

That play to DJ with the 50 yards after the catch was a thing of beauty. Great to see him in full stride hauling a s s. - we haven't seen much of that at SMU where that was a common occurrence at Hawaii.

DJ had a great 2nd half.

Red zone - Still don't understand the unwillingness to try different things down there. When you do what you do and it doesn't work, try something else. The option QB play was a good one. This has been so frustrating. You hope that a play gets down to the 10 or a TD b/c we still s u c k around the 5 for getting it in the end zone.

I wouldn't say he has shown improvement every game.

Gilbert appears to have better vison and touch when rolling out versus staying in the pocket. He appears a bit nervous like KP when inside. Since he has shown he can run - the big first down run vs. UH was outstanding - hope more roll outs are in his future.

I think this team and Gilbert figured out some things in the second half. We may look back on this game as a turning point for SMU football! Go Mustangs Beat UCF!!

Looks so much better now.

Second week in a row he's drifted out of the pocket to avoid pressure and found open receivers for touchdowns.

Third week in a row he's run upfield for gains.

Love the speed option call at the goalline (finally).

He's got a scrambling/ running element to his game that wasn't fostered earlier in the season.

He is playing better no question. There are still some timing issues with the WR's but for the most part in these last two games we are seeing the Garrett Gilbert a lot of us hoped we'd see when he came here.

The OL has been so much better than I expected. Yes we give up some pressures/sacks and been stuffed a few times in the run game but for a very inexperienced group I think they've played very well.
