As importantly, I feel strongly that the student body's involvement (which needs to be energized) is based on two things: our lack of success for more than 20 years (an entire generation) and the role of the head coach and his staff in engaging them directly to step up the students direct involvement (full participation before kick-off through the final whistle). Having attended several Notre Dame games, the students show up in force and the players respect them throughout the game and season.
JJ or the next coach have a role in creating enthusiasm and clearly setting expectations for the students and the fans.
In summary, I do not get the sense that JJ's heart is in the broader responsibilities, as I see it. I hope/wish that I am wrong.
