I was shocked at our turnout for the Compass Bowl. If it's a manageable distance and a name opponent, SMU fans will show up.

Do you really think JJ cares about the fans when having a chance to go to the Hawaii Bowl?

makes one wonder if jj purposely didn't have the team ready to play some of those games just so we would lose and he could get a free trip to the islands. he has already shown he has no ethics and integrity.

I still don't see how this can possibly be official - despite the wishes of the coaching staff - when they don't even know the conference champion and how many C-USA teams are bowl eligible.
SMU hasn't said anything through any official channels yet.

6 teams can be eligible from CSUA. The team as been told it is the Hawaii Bowl.

Rivals sent me a text saying we have accepted, so it has to be true

It's CUSA's call. Will they do us any favors?

It's a showcase game, only game on a holiday. Wouldn't CUSA be inclined to feature a good team that's staying such as Tulsa or ECU or am I over-thinking this?

thats what i would do if i were CUSA. last thing they want is about a dozen mentions on TV that SMU is going to the Big East.

Rick Hart just said on twitter nothing will be announced until next week.
Then he said it is a C-USA decision and the players are more important than the fans. Seriously?

The Bowl can invite whomever they want. If we got multiple invites, we could pick and choose.
The choice of who goes where is from the Bowl's perspective, not the conference's choice.
They obviously want June because it is the last time he is eligible to go. Regardless of us not travelling well, there are a lot of people in Hawaii that will show up just to support him.
Probably not what CUSA wanted, but it is the best for our program, because of the TV exposure. Sucks for those of us who want to travel to a bowl... I just looked at AA and tickets are pretty pricey.

I doubt anything is official until all of the CUSA teams have played all of their games and all bowls for CUSA teams are determined. I'd bet we end up in Hawaii, but I find it hard to believe anything is official. Maybe it's one of those "if you offer, we'll accept" handshake agreements.

In case it hasn't been posted elsewhere here is the answer to some of the bowl questions about C-USA.
