My family does its big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so I made sure to have everyone sit down and watch this game before we had dinner.

The game is always low rated but because people watch in groups on Xmas eve it isn't a true indicator of how many people watch it.
For example I believe the last time we played in the Hawaii bowl it led to easily the largest number of hits on the smu site.

Fresno St has a decent FB reputation here on the West Coast.
For all you 'SMU to PAC-12' supporters, this was good PR.

A large number of hits on the SMU site isn't an indicator either because SMU is a small school and probably doesn't get a lot of hits anyway. So any bowl that SMU would have gone to for the first time would have given a large number of hits to the SMU site compared to what it normally gets. Plus by now people probably have almost forgotten about the Hawaii Bowl with all the other bowls that have come along since. Thing about being in one of the first bowl games is that people tend to forget about you after all the other bowls start.

With as many bowls as there are people will forget about your game regardless of when it is played. Only the fans of the schools will remember the bowl game unless it is the national championship. I know Stanford is playing Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, but had to think for a while to remember Oregon is facing Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Actually some of the later bowls are more memorable than the earlier ones imo.

great High Definition traditional uniforms. Meanwhile Okie St is on TV in "Cotton Bowl" wearing all black uniforms with white shoes against a school wearing all white uniforms with Black numerals. Cool! Dude!

I was thinking last night about branding with your school color. Clemson, Tennessee, and Texas are all orange, but if you look at each one they are each distinctive and readily recognizable.
