Well I doubt there was 2.4 mil. I mean it somewhat of an estimate. The reason I said its all bar because what other sport are they going to put on. I say DVRs because like me Christmas Eve is family time not tv time lol. Oh well no big deal just thinking the number is an overestimate.

Are there a lot of people in sports bars on Christmas Eve? Better yet, are sports bars even open on Christmas Eve?

Sadly nowadays... A lot of places are open on Christmas Eve. Heck even Christmas Day. I was surprise frys electronics was open... Same for Starbucks. Poor employees, hope they got time and half at least.

If you say that the sad reality is that sports bars open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, why are you so closed to the possibility that people may neglect their families and watch the game at home? I had the TV on the whole game and was watching as much as I could. Was fortunate to be able to watch the entire first half.

I guess I didn't say it correctly. Bars and DVRs seem normal. I'm talking about the retail side, I feel bad. That's fine you saw it, I just think most people rather pay attention to family activities rather than the lame Hawaii bowl lol. I mean even if it was the cotton bowl, I still would have DVR it but at least that would be more tempting. This year it was a nbd to record it and watch it on the 26th. I still have a hard time believing 2+ mil watched it.

Thank goodness it was the only game on or the viewership might have been only 50K.

I was at the Chili's restaurant in Simi Valley-CA in the early evening watching it while we ate. Yep - I definitely DVR'd it, watched the complete game, then various plays, and finally erased it today.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I had a party going on at my house...had the game on with the sound down. I had to watch it over when everyone left. (Wife loved that!) However, I agree...its a guestimate. So, I guess it was more like 3 to 4 million viewers. LOL

Whatever it was, it was GREAT for SMU! The performance of HUNT was particularly good as sports writers and TV hosts are still making comments about his game. People who didn't watch it have heard how awesome SMU played. GREAT GAME FOR SMU!

We used to be a Neilsen family. They hooked up sensors to all our TV's, the dvr and our DVD players. Using that data, they generate the viewer data.

On Christmas Eve, our bowl game was the only live sporting event on television. If you wanted to watch sports, we were it. I would love to know how much betting action was on our game. I would bet all the degenerate gamblers had action on our game.

Hawaii Bowl is always one of the lowest watched bowls-every year. I was looking at some of the numbers the other day and I think it might have been the lowest watched bowl so far. Numbers dropped significantly this year but that's pretty common for most bowls
