With the Cowboys going to the 4-3 D and Spencer probably not resigning here Hunt might be a good first round pick for the boys-even though I know we need o-line badly.

Doesn't seem likely. Dallas desperately needs offensive linemen, safeties, a wide receiver, etc.
Not that I think Jerry has a clue, but if he (or at least his scouting staff) does have a clue, there are much bigger needs.

Who becomes our main kick blocking threat next year? Margus Hunt, Taylor Thompson, Spike, Kevin Grenier -- all gone.
I'm trying to think of guys who have some quickness and also have height and long arms. Maybe Beau Barnes? Robert Seals?

Keep recruiting from Estonia. It could be a new pipeline state.

I hope not. Millionaires don't need scholarships for one semesterPonySnob wrote:Do schools end up honoring that last semester of scholarship if they come back at a later date? If so, is it considered "academic" at that point and not "athletic"?ponyscott wrote:Exactly!...Why would you?...millions are at stake. I hope they do. The athletes who go on to become millionaires are the exception, not the rule, and if an athlete who doesn't get rich gets to finish a scholarship, an athlete who does should, too. Can't penalize those athletes for being successful in their sport of choice.

I see your point, but yes, I do, and I'm fortunate to be in a position to do so.
But what if you're a star athlete who gets hurt and retires early? What if you're that safety from LSU who went to the New York Giants and wrecked his leg in a car accident? I have no idea if he graduated already, but if not, should he have his scholarship fulfilled if he chose to go back?
I don't know the rules on this, but I think most schools will fulfill a player's scholarship if he wants to come back. Maybe it's to help their graduation rates. I don't know.

It does help the apr I believe if they leave without graduating and then come back to get their degree. I have no idea the policy but I would think there would be a time limit. My guess is that they would have to pay their own way.
