Not true, young'un. Move on... leave the Pony Express in the past... where it belongs.StallionsModelT wrote: The only era of SMU football that has ever been nationally recognized was the Pony Express era.

My friend Mr. Brad Bradley, who I spoke to this evening, remembers the Doak Walker era well.StallionsModelT wrote:No one really remembers the Doak Walker era. People still remember the Pony Express era.

What sport is that?..if you are talking baseball.. tell that to TCU..Rice.. LSU , etc... Texas Rangers pro ball and all of the Triple A and Double A local teams around the country. It would be a great diversion on campus if a successful program in a dead sports time of year.couch 'em wrote:Ugh another dying sport nobody will watch
Re: Straight from the Hart
We could go with those awful Dave Smith era grey/silver helmets if you want retro with Red Jerseys and silver pants. No blue at all in those except for one stripe in the helmet. June Jones probably likes red and we have red.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Red helmets, white pony, blue jerseys, gray pants were/are the best.mustangxc wrote:The only time SMU has ever worn blue helmets was during the Phil Bennett years, so there would be nothing retro about going with blue helmets. If you want retro then we should go back to red helmets with no stripes like we wore during the Doak Walker and Jerry LeVias eras.MV pony wrote:I like the blue jerseys and the retro blue helmets with the red pony. The current helmets are too cUSA for me. We should change at least something now that we're going to the AAC..
Giant oversized white numerals, no stripes anywhere.

Come on SMT. There are plenty of 85+ year olds without dementia who vividly remember the doak walker era. It is just as relevant as the 80s.StallionsModelT wrote:No one really remembers the Doak Walker era. People still remember the Pony Express era.

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
