In this particular case, I think the answer is 'yes'. Evidently, Mel has a tough time kicking Jerry out of the weight room at the end of the day. The reason everyone thinks Jerry will end up at 6-7 or 6-8 is that he has an enormous frame. At 270, you could almost use the term "lanky" to describe his current physique. He has a lot of room to grow.
They said the same thing about Jordan Favreau but he was only 6'3" not 6'5." But Favreau never grew. Good that Jerry is already 6'5." Remeber that Thomas Ashcroft is 6'5". I thought Mel was just getting back to SMU for some reason. I guess I could be wrong. Stallion, he actually didn't look fat at 290 on the video interview. Looking forward to seeing this young man play when he is ready.

I'm still looking forward to the novel: "The Great Secret Recruiting Battle for the Secret 5 Star-Jordan Favreau"-written by Dad. One of the greatest frauds ever perpetuated on ponyfans-swallowed hook line and sinker by ponyfans.com

One of the reasons I say there is always a scholarship available for a player that is a legacy of one of our past greats.

Speaking of legacies, and I know this is a thread about Jerry Saena, but one of the more intriguing pickups for us in 2013 was Spencer Hollie. That's a big dude (6'4", 310lbs as a true freshman). We need that kind of beef at NT. I hope he pans out. His highlight reel looked really good, but he didn't have many offers. Hard to tell. If he has work ethic and a good attitude, (with that size), he could give us some depth right away.

Interesting to note that over at Scout they were saying that Brian Cramer is getting reps as the backup NT as he's up to 280 now. Interesting.

Cramer is also about 6'4" so he needs to be about 300 to hold down the NT spot.

Depending on what his strength level is now Hollie could make a nice NT.

I think Jerry is my new favorite player. You don't see many guys say they love hitting anymore. This team could really use someone like that. It was my favorite thing in football too. You can tell hes not going to let anyone out work him either. He's gonna bust his butt. Love it

30lbs in a month is nuts. Give this kid a year and he'll be an even bigger tank

Only 4 months after PP reported it (then 275)? Impressive!

Alex is right. He's really impressive! Great interview.
You're right about that!

Looks like he has put on 5 pounds since then. That's good imo.

Seems like a great kid, and the committed type of player every coach wants on his team.
