Not even a "pep" band!

In the words of Jed Clampett, "pathetic."

You can play videos from the same person of each band's halftime show that game simultaneously and you hear one band over the other. Unfortunately when you have a band our size we get a cone of strong sound with diminished backward sound, not a sphere hence the not hearing it as well from behind. 400 people would make that sphere based on sound diffraction. 90 % of the crowd is in that cone where the sound really hits. To say we were beaten 100% you would honestly be lying. If you're sitting somewhere in the front line of site then it's easy to hear the difference.

Malonish... Now he's talking about 'cones'... must be an engineer. And I thought the reason why the fans couldn't hear the MBand at Lubbock was because of all that cheap Southern Comfort...

Cones. Amazing.

Personally, I don't give a damn about Texas Tech's band despite the fact that my family is from Lubbock and my parents went to Tech. I always enjoyed staying at my grandmother's house on 27th Street, having some of her fresh baked corn bread and then heading over to watch SMU play Tech. The '82 game was the best with "Miracle Man" Bobby Leach returning that kickoff in the last few seconds for a tie-breaking, winning touchdown. We all went across the street to celebrate, play pool and drink beer at Tech's favorite watering hole.

One trip, we picked up a rather large tumble weed off 114 heading into Lubbock, stuffed it into the back trunk and then decorated "him" with red and blue. When we walked up to the stadium gate with our tumble weed in-hand they looked at us like we were crazy. We weren't crazy, just a little drunk. Having advised them of our legal rights, and no posted notices present about tumble weeds in the stadium, we passed through with our "friend" to find our seats. Well, that was one interesting game. We just thought our "friend" the tumble week symbolized all that was... about West Texas. "He" was good luck because the Mustangs went on to win a rare one in Lubbock.

I never paid much attention to the 'Goin band...

Serious question - Do you sniff your own farts and do they smell like roses?

Does the visiting school have to pay for tickets for their band or does SMU give them to the school for free?

My understanding is that it comes out of each school's allotment, so yes you have to pay for your band's tickets

Ha! West Texans are very friendly people, I just never figured out why the Tech fans were so awful.
