competitive!? Do you realize we haven't won a single game against a Big XII school since the breakup of the SWC? We are something like 0-20. StallionsModelT is right. Accept it.
Not true. We beat Kansas several years ago. And we have beaten TCU a few times before they joined the Big 12.
LA, I realize we blow. However, if winning bowl games and being ranked around 40-50 is not competitive then what do you call 0-12 and being ranked ~180 per Sagarin?
Against Big12 South (only including TCU once they became P5) our record is.....drum roll please....
0-50-1
TCU did not fare well vs Big 12 either before joining, only beating Baylor which sucked, Iowa State, Tech on a down year and the only signature win was OU in 2005. Yes, we don't have a signature win vs Big 12 but consider that we have shot ourselves in the foot (academic restrictions, etc) until June got here and single handedly demolished our program. If we were to join Big 12 (let's say in 2 years due to them wanting a championship game) along with Morris being our coach, our recruiting would skyrocket along with us surging as a very competitive team in that league.

We have been competitive against non-BCS teams for quite a while, not counting this year. I'm talking about being competitive against BCS schools. I'm pretty sure you count our number of wins over BCS schools in the last 20 years on one hand. In most of the games against BCS schools they have their 2nd/3rd string in during the 2nd half because the games aren't competitive at all.

The BCS has only existed for 16 years so for four of the past 20 years we did not play a BCS school. I can only think of Kansas, Washington State and TCU as BCScurrent BCS conference schools that we have beaten during that time.
Believe we beat Vanderbilt badly at Ownby in 1990 in the first game of the season and then lost 10 games in a row in Forrest Greg's last season as coach. We lost the next year at Vanderbilt during Tom Rossley's first season as head coach which was a 1-10 season as we'll. In both years, the team was much more competitive than the 2014 team.
