I asked earlier that we stop posting coaches past records at other schools. This is SMU. I am asking now that we stop posting coaches recruiting histories as well. This is SMU. A coach has not coached until he coaches at SMU. A coach has not recruited until he recruits at SMU. Stop comparing other schools to us. We are far better but distinguised in what we do and how we operate.

Big daddy are u really this ignorant??? Anytime you hire someone, whether it be coaches or paper salesmen you look at their past results. You cant be that stupid.

No one is comparing the candidates past school to SMU. We want a coach who has a track record of success and the way coaches are graded is their win/loss record at other universities. Deal with it.

Note: Ponyfans can we start a fake board for Bigdaddy to go and post rediculous things while we stay here.

Yes you are right. You do look at their past results in reference to what they can bring to your organization/situation. Wins and loses has nothing to do with it here. That works well with the BCS schools but not us. Track records has nothing to do with it here. We have no track record. If that is the case App. State would have never hired Jerry Moore, Boise State would not have the coach they have and we could go on an on. Go to the Tennis board, oibviously that is what you played an understand. You are messing with the Bigdaddy, keeping it real.

Orsini had a track record...thats why he came here i thought...

C'mon JT his track record fit us just great. UCF and where else? He is a nobody in regards to the BCS, else he would be there in the BCS? He is perfect for SMU. Plus Turner and everybody else in the admin knew him from his Cowboys days. C'mon JT?

Just telling you what I know. I am sure those would/did/could have played a big factor in a Rice hire, but they couldn't even get to that part, he wanted more money than they could offer.

Orsini is a nobody in regards to the BCS...unless you count his time at GT, who PJ thinks is a somebody in the BCS

This is a good point. I certainly don't want a coach that shoots and/or kills his own players.

I mean, unless it was done to motivate the survivors or something. Then maybe...

Larry Coker as possible head coach.

There are a lot of coaches coaching today that are great coaches that have never won a national title. I would take him in a heart beat.

i think this would be a bad hire. Yes he won a National Championship at Miami with someone else's players and went to the National Championship game the following year. They were upset by Ohio State. Good for Larry. If you look at the records of the Hurricans the following seasons It gets worse and the blow out loses start to build up in the last couple of years during his HC tenure.

2001 12-0 Natinal champs
2002 12-1 Lost in championship game to Ohio State
2003 11-2 went to Orange Bowl beat Florida St.
2004 9-3 wom Peach Bowl
2005 9-3 Lost to LSU 10-3 in Peach bowl. Post game fight.
2006 6-6 Coker is fired after at end of season

There is a pattern and it is not a good one. I have not seen people beating his door down to hire him as head coach since he left Miami. He could not even get hired at RICE !!!!!! Enough said. NEXT

True. UM had a really rough year with off the field stuff. I always kind of thought he was pushed out just to kind of clear the air down there after the bad season--on and off the field. They obviously didn't want wholesale change--or they wouldn't have hired the new HC from the current staff--so someone at Miami at least thought the program he put in place was worth keeping to some extent.

Coker wouldn't be my first choice, but we could certainly do worse.

During coker's time as head coach, four players at Miami died. None were by natural causes. Two car accidents, one shooting and one "bludgeoning."
