The players arent the idiots making the decisions in letting june stay, they just play the game. I hope were good again some day so you people that abandoned ship look foolish rooting for smu again. Being a true fan is all about getting through the tough periods too, unless all of you are yankees fans and dont know what its like to lose. Ill see the remaining smu fans next september in floyd casey stadium, just because I hate the coach doesn't mean I wont cheer for my school.

This is a head scratcher for me. Your school is the culprit here - SMU is choosing to extend Jones. SMU is choosing to ignore the horrible recruiting record and decisionmaking wrt Redshirts. SMU is choosing to pay a coach who openly criticizes and questions his employer. SMU is choosing to pay a man who has tried to leave for other jobs, twice! I can go on and on, but you get my point.

Don't tell me about getting through the tough periods - any football team would be LUCKY to have the kind of support we have shown through the DP, through 20+ years of restrictions and Pye-made standards that made us the laughing stock of college football for decades!

Do you guys ever visist other team's boards or message boards in general? Most fanbases would say and do much worse over Jones being extended - heck, most fanbases would have torched him after the ASU deal and demanded a resignation or termination immediately. What do we do? We welcome him back as if nothing happened. Well, you reap what you sow my friends.

SMU Admin and SMU fans are quite possibly the easiest to please in all of sports! 6 wins and a bowl and you are untouchable here. Or win 5 games and you get an extension it seems...

I am sorry, but you guys need to wake the F up and demand accountability from SMU and her football program. Otherwise, what is the damn point?

Now cue the dance of the ponyfan morons to tell me that I am a whiner, or not a true fan, or "don't let the door hit you on the way out". To you folks I would simply ask one question - do you accept this type of mediocrity in your own lives?

I could handle the lack of wins if it looked like there was some serious recruiting effort being put in and some hope for improvement in the future. UNT's future is brighter than ours

I realize everyone on here loves SMU. Its just a shame SMU doesn't love you back. Have a freaking backbone and tell them to screw off when they blabber on and on and on about "competing at the highest levels" and "doing what it takes to win" and then extending a guy that publicly disgraced us and puts literally ZERO effort into recruiting and marketing of the program.

The program abandoned me first.
Back off Warchild seriously.

i agree with SMT and ponyinNC...

if the fans boycott and let the administration know that we're not okay with mediocrity, the public will understand that we as a fanbase really DO care about our program and that we are passionate about it. i bet even the players will find it admirable. so dont give me that crap about how if we boycott we're not supporting the team and that the players are going to feel hurt. they understand that the fans want a winning team and not a team that cant compete with decent teams. im sure they want the same thing. this is sports. fans get pissed when the ppl running the team dont do their best to create a winning team. and june and co are half-assing it. sometimes you gotta do something negative to create something positive

I think you are right about UNT. We will bottom out next year when they kick our arses during our 0-fer September stretch. They will have a nice crowd, too and that game will be a huge momentum builder for their program

Help me out -- as I understand it, June has an offer to stay, and he has said he probably will accept it.

Has June actually accepted the offer, or is he still jerking the university around?

Do we know if the offer to stay includes a contract extension, and if so, if there is a buy-out?

Did I miss something? Just checked the Athletic Department's web site and saw nothing contrary to my understanding.

Don't forget they are the same Copeland-loving, butt kissing types who toe the line so they can hang out with coaches and players that have enabled our slide into nit just second tier, but bottom of second tier football.

Do you base that on the fact that he is not recruiting?

If he is there, ask him if he signed the extension.
