Media getting re-seated too? Perhaps they should ask the DMN to up their donation to get a seat at the table.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rick hasn't at least thought about making media pay for access, or at least a tiered system where they have to pay if they want food in addition to having the honor of covering his hallowed basketball program.

What's the going rate for a meatball? Meatball, drink and a cookie for $25? Value meal!

If this reseating thing starts to fade fizzle, the ultimate insult will be when smu starts calling those season ticket holders who declined to buy into the reseat and offer them their same seats

Suggestion - what is causing the anger is the request for donations without knowing you can secure your long term seats. That is not the way to treat any customer.

Just price the seats - and let the chips fall. If you need to find 3-4 seats for big donors, ask some people to help, you out. Cut them a deal. But this system is stupid and offensive.

And likely causing a lot more long-term damage than they realize.

I know I'm planning on giving up my tickets after this mess. I've had my tickets since the year after I graduated (when I walked up to the ticket window and handed over a $100 and got a stack of tickets and change). We'll still go to games via StubHub (or other third-party), but this is "the straw that broke the camel's back" in regards to the SMU Athletic Department. I honestly wouldn't mind just being priced out, but this whole bidding war/gambling system for the re-seat is just ridiculous.

On the upside, my wife is quite happy we'll have an extra few thousand dollars to spend on vacation each year...

This whole situation is so 'SMU'. and then the university wonders why people aren't interested in donating to the school. IMO you need the 'skins on the wall' before you start trying to price yourself out of the market. And penalizing a successful basketball program to make up for a losing fball program is not good business.

If Shake ends up being done for the year and the team doesn’t make a post season tournament, does Hart go forward with the reseat for the 18-19 season?

I want SMU a to succeed so badly that I’ve been a season ticket holder in FB and BB for over 20 years. But like SectionF said.... price me out but don’t make me enter an auction for my seats. I know they need more money for the AD.... and I’m find with that..... but raise the prices and let the chips fall where they may. So , now that I know my seats are only ΓÇ£mineΓÇ¥ when demand is low.... so I’ll give up my FB tickets. I’ll attend a few games and I’m sure without season tickets the desire to attend will wain and I’ll move on to something else.
It makes me sad that I’m doing this because I love SMU but I can see that it doesn’t love its fans. As for BB, I’ll make my usual donation and if my seats aren’t decent then I’ll drop those as well...... Mustang Club member since 1982 ... might learn to do without that as well.

I’m more sad than mad

I’m probably going to get priced out of my current seats and have worse seats next year. Not ideal, but this is what major bball programs do. I just hope we put a product on the floor next year that justifies the increase—and I think we will.
