What does it matter PK. Sweet already stated in his blog that the decision was made by the University. They "listened" to focus groups but apparently the University stood by the tradition as orginally decided. I see no reason to dream, wish, desire, hope, or covet any other combination. We have to accept what it is or be miserable.

Ahhhh...the swarmy masses must quitely succumb to the fate devised by the lofty "focus groups"? Nay I say...
Nay. Not without a last dying gasp of bitter whining and the throwing of rocks against the walls of the hallowed administration enclave.

I'll be wearin' my navy/crimson whether the team is or not. That will help me overcome some of my miseableness regarding these cheeeez colors. Something's not right.

couldn't have said it any better - Bergermeister
makes me want to go out & purchase a crimson or navy sweatshirt & design my own "SMU sweatshirt" with 'a traditional' logo (from the 30's thru the 60's)
actually, i found an outfit here in town with all the high tech stuff you can imagine who will do it for me -
quite frankly, i'm getting closer & closer to doing it
i know one thing for sure, if i did, of course with royalties going to smoooooo, i'd sell more stuff than that barnes & noble bookstore that SMU sold out to! gosh their stuff is hideous

First of all, I've looked at some PMS color charts and the colors we are talking about tend to be a little darker than the samples Richard Sweet showed in his blog post. Still not great, but better. Second thing is that PMS colors don't relate directly to the dyes used in fabrics which gives the athletic department some lea way in picking fabric colors that are "close", but hopefully darker and perhaps a good compromise between what we have now and the "official" SMU colors. I'm going to do my best to try and sell the AD on that. Everyone else should feel free to make their opinions heard too. I think the real issue was to get all the teams to use the same colors which is a good idea. Right now they are sort of a hodge podge.

This was the "real issue" when the colors were "settled"/"determined" 2+ years ago by the SMU Athletic Department. Remember? The athletic director said that "as uniforms are replaced, the new red and navy colors will be used so there will be no discrepancy in the colors." And, after that decree, they install those putrid blue end zones. Bad move.
