SMU can be competitive, if it wants to be

George Bush doesn't care about black people.? He had the first black Secretary of State, the second black Secretary of State, more black general officers in the history of U.S. Military, more black small businesses getting government contracts than ever before, no he doesn't give a hoot about black people.

Speaking as something of a naysayer, I object not to the library, but to the policy institute, as it will be a Dubya cheerleading camp controlled by Dubya people, on the campus of a private university whose mission ought to be unrestrained political discourse.
Since when has this been the mission of SMU?

Calm down EastStang. I don't want to speak for anyone, but I'm pretty sure the quote was in reference to the perception in some circles of the black community See Kanye West.

That's all true.
But Katrina will be his legacy in the African-American community for as long as he lives.

Now which one of the above three people (Bush, Nagin, Blano) are you guys saying created the hurricane and directed it to a city that someone decided to build below sea level and someone else decided it would be good to live below sea level?
Sorry I brought the Library up.
Regardless of your feelings towards the library, the fact is it will be some $400million facility right on our campus that WILL bring NATIONAL attention to SMU. The last time SMU had national attention was Harriot Myers (for going to such a non-prestigious law school as SMUs and the DP)

We have the last laugh as there are a lot of schools who spent time and money trying to get the library and it is going to be on our campus.
