If Jerry Jones had really wanted the stadium in Dallas, he would have tried just a little harder. I think he just gave it the required look and went to Arlington so he could develop all the cheap condemned land that Arlington basically gave him. There would have been little development play for Blue Star Development to profit from...that being said, Laura Miller should have aggressively campaigned for the stadium and tried to win the battle in the press, made Jerry a villain for wanting to leave and then ponied up with a lot of money...Jerry left town before public sentiment even had time to galvanize, I think that was by design. $325 million really isn't that much for the city to lay out. That's $300/citizen. Jerry said he'd fund everything else. And with a retractable roof, that place will be holding conventions, rodeos, trade shows...

Put the stadium next to Southside on Lamar or the new police dept headquarters. Dallas would suddenly be a much better place for a convention. BTW, Arlington condemned a LOT more land than needed for the stadium

IF Dallas had a real mayor, it would be a far better city....pretty disappointing...

One bright spot is that our new mayor appears to have his head screwed on straight.

Laura Miller did not want to help Jerry finance his stadium.

Laura Miller is an idiot.

Agreed. She did the City a big disservice not keeping the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas.

They weren't in Dallas to start with - unless you are talking about the Cotton Bowl days.

Apparently Laura Miller has since said that she should have supported the new stadium to be built in Dallas. Thanks Laura, but you're a few years too late. IDIOT! Next time you hear someone complaining about how crappy the neighborhood is around Fair Park, just remember it could have been different.

Ah, Laura freakin Miller.....thats not all of it my friends, anyone remember TMS and the horse track that is doing so well in Grand Prairie? They wanted to be in or near dallas as well! She had a huge hand in them not being here, she's a total non-business player as far as thats concrened, and not to mention corporations that didnt come to dallas because of her!
One of the biggest mistakes Dallas voters have ever made, can anyone say sanctuary city?

As to JJones.....best to not comment on that pirate, wonder why he donated some cash.....nah, he's not lobbying (bribe ;) is he?

I remember when Jack Kent Cooke was trying to get a new stadium in DC. He had several deals in place but they were nixed by Marion Berry who had his hand out. Then Virginia got into the act and that got nixed by the nimby's in Arlington. Finally PG County gave him the land, gave him the road improvements, if he would build the stadium there. He did and now every Redskins fan curses when they have to drive around the beltway to FedEx Field for the game.

Are you a moron? She had nothing to do with TMS which BROKE GROUND IN 1995 when she was mayor from 2002-2007.

The Dallas County Commissioners also are to blame in this - they did their fair share to screw up the negotiations by trying to dictate what land the stadium should be built on.

Yep. Good ole Ron Kirk became mayor in 1995. But wasn't Miller already on the city council then?

Miller was on the city council and very outwardly campaigning against all sports related projects. I wonder why she opposed those but was campaigning for the crooked Section 8 housing developer not only in Dallas but in San Antonio...hmmm, what a loser.

Miller wasn't on city council until 1998.
