I have also heard that dohertys admin asst went to HR and requested a transfer out of mens basketball. bad working conditions. I don’t know it for a fact, but its what someone in HR told me.
farmers departure indicates two things of orsini/doherty.
1. A casual disregard for academics by orsini and doherty. anybody who follows that program closely knows the role farmer plays with the players.
2. An inability to work with HR to have the people they want on staff – whatever the title (if it is true that orsini/doherty were told by HR they couldnt move farmer to ops). Effective management finds a way to accomplish things under the “umbrellaâ€

You don't know for a fact, but you're spreading the rumor? Nice.

It indicates nothing of the sort. You really think that if Farmer leaves that nobody will be charged with keeping track of the team's academics?

By all means, let's make this a priority...
you don't understand the landscape of hoops recruiting if you disagree.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Who cares? Malcom Farmer is a spare. It's the nature of the coaching profession - quit whining. (and quite referring to "HR" )
I would disagree... Malcolm is one of the best directors of ops that I've been around... He does his job very well... I hate to loose this guy... I can't judge him as an assistant just because i never got a chance to see him in practice or game situations...
Anyways, Malcolm is a good guy who trully loves basketball and is great at what he does... It sucks that due to some dumb rule he has to go...!
I'm sure it will all get worked out before the end of June. Just hope Doherty is smart enough to try and get something done locally where we have to do a better job recruiting those kids.
Honestly, i don't really care whether the next assistant coach has local ties or not... We just need someone who can provide some serious bench coaching... Since Coach G left 2 years ago, not a single assistant on the staff last couple years was a good bench coach... Don't get me wrong - local ties would be a huge bonus...! But i still think we need somebody who can help make the necessary game adjustments...
