Question...is/has an assistant left SMU?

Post by bbfan09 »

I'm a huge basketball fan and on a previous message board, I read over the weekend that an assistant is leaving SMU? Is this information correct? If so, who is leaving? Not trying to start a rumor just thought I would confirm with SMU basketball fans if this info is true or false?

Lutz interviewed for the Midwestern job but didn't get it. The Midland College coach got the job.

Knew that Lutz had interviewed for Midwestern job and didn't get it. Just saw a posting that sad SMU is looking to hire an assistant postion. Just curious if this was indeed the case or not? Didn't know if Lutz or another was in the mix for another position? If something changes please post a reply.

Looks like one of TCU assitants is going to fiu with Isiah Thomas. The domino effect is still in play.

Are you sure you aren't talking about the two asst. football coaching vacancies? We have two spots there. Obviously, the second is not the one all of us wanted.

First I heard about movement on Doherty's staff.

No, not referring to football. Sad news this week though for the football team.

Like I said, it was mentioned on a message board, Coachingnewsonline.com, and most of their info is accurate. It posted on Friday, April 24th. I'm a huge basketball fan and follow the coaching changes each season. Don't want to start rumors/speculation. Just thought I would ask if there has been any talk that confirms this?

I checked that web site you referenced. I guess you need to be registered. I take it you are registered and could read it. I could not. But as for our situation, it's listed in the Latest Rumors link. With rumors anything is possible I guess.

This is merely another rumor, but after the season ended I heard that some of the coaches were getting demoted, thus opening a spot to bring in a new asst. I interpret that as Farmer moving back to the ops position he occupied the previous season and bringing in a new guy. But I haven't seen any news of this happening, so it may very well just remain a rumor.

Rumor? Very well could be. This was just posted on Friday so we'll see if anything shakes down about this one. Maybe a new assistant is what's needed to bring a different perspective to the game. It couldn't hurt.

The SMU objective is to have more assistant coaches than players. Then start an assistant coaches challenge basketball league and national tournament. Our goal is top 25. This will further serve as a diversionary tactic and smoke screen allowing Doh several more years to recruit some entry level Div. I players. All these assistant coaching rumors are part of the deception operation and secret plot for the formation of the new team. Stay tuned as this will be the basis for the most excitment in SMU basketball for at least the next year.

Question: Is there a NCAA regulation that schools are required to post their positions, even though most coaches already know who they are going to replace.

I think its to comply with Federal Fair Employment guidelines. SMU has always posted their job openings and almost always has the job open for an extended period.
