Assistant coach leaving SMU

PonyDoh, you've done an EXCELLENT job of ruining a "good luck" post to Coach Blair. It saddens me that you continue with this men vs. women crap, that you choose this post to discuss message board ettiquette and that you try to prove a point and damper a perfectly innocent post.
We get your point - move on.
And Coach Blair, again, best of luck to you.

You people treat this like a sexist demand, when its just courtesy and helps keep the board/threads organized. The fact that you folks lump it all together speaks volumes about how weak this fan base is. The fact that you won't recognize that it's common sports board courtesy, speaks loudly. It's not that difficult a request. Until it happens, I will derail and massacre any women's thread. Appreciate your cooperation
1. What is done on other boards is meaningless. This is PonyFans, not a board for other schools.
2. Look at the top of the board. It's the BASKETBALL board, not the men's basketball board.
3. It's called a BACK button. Look into it.
4. Get over it.

Agreed â€" that's the only funny part about this.mrydel wrote:I am amazed that ponydoh keeps coming back after knowing it is a thread on women's basketball.
We get it â€" ponydoh doesn't like women's basketball. Fine. So why come back to sabotage those who do?
Enough with your "message board courtesy" or somesuch. If anyone gets to make the rules of what's accepted and expected in terms of message courtesy, it's the moderators, not you.
Is it women's basketball (or women's sports in general) that threatens you, ponydoh? Or is it fans of women's sports? Clearly there are some issues at play here. Try a hobby.
How is everyone doing today? Is this still a ladies hoops thread mislabeled? I keep stumbling on it by mistake, no way to tell what it's about in the subject. Apologies.
In the spirit of the thread, Good luck random coach, hope you do well elsewhere. We will miss you b/c ladies hoops rules the school. HOF Rhonda will right the ship, not to worry.

Like it or not, they have had a hell of a lot more success than the gentlemen hoops have had over the last ten plus years.PonyDoh wrote:In the spirit of the thread, Good luck random coach, hope you do well elsewhere. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I'm happy for their relative success, but I don't front run. As was stated on the Maryland board a few days ago, 'I'd trade our women's national title for just one top 50 mens recruit.'

Only a fool would make a statement like that. A top 50 recruit guarantees nothing while a national championship means your program has reached the top of the mountain. Now how spiteful is that?

That sentiment isn't uncommon. I knew a guy who was a huge basketball fan that attended Tech when they won the women's title. He refused to attend any of their games. The guy went on to become a pastor.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Sorry your feelings are hurt so much you keep "accidentally" coming back to this thread, but you're embarrassing yourself by ripping Coach Rompola and her team. Feel however you want to, but you're in the minority on this.

Reading comprehension would do you a world of good. I'm not ripping Rompola or her team. I'm all for their success. All I want is for women's threads to be labeled women's threads, so people don't keep stumbling on them. It happens countless times on this board, and most don't much care about women's hoops, whether they are vocal about it or not. The numbers don't lie.
I hope Rompola and crew dominate CUSA, I really do. Just label the threads appropriately.

LOL, that's reality not fool's speak. Terp fans would hand over the national championship trophy, if the women's team would just stop operating 2mil in the red every single year. They'd hand it over to merely squeak into the men's tourney as a 12 seed, not to mention for Top 100 recruits. This is the reality of big time revenue hoops. We're all proud of the SMU women's team, but as I said before, not all programs are created equal. Just label threads properly so some of us can differentiate between the big boys and secondary attractions.

That is really a foolish statement. Denigrating a national champion in favor of a top recruit that Gary Williams will lead to another NIT berth is laughable. But then again, I guess that speaks of their fans more than anything else.

BTW, why the fascination with revenue/expenses? Unless you are the AD, why are you so concerned? If the program is in the black, it isn’t like you are getting a check at the end of the year. If it is in the red, a school like MD has plenty of options at its disposal. Either way, your wallet isn’t affected.
