Long live Russ Pott's, and his copied sell out model
May we use it on all home games like he did.
Finally sounding like we 'really' want to put a football program together

As one of the volunteers, I have been in the sales office quite a bit lately, all of the people working in there, had a phone up to each ear, and typing on their computer with their toes! I'm sure they will crash when Saturday is over!

They have got the buses ready to get the fans there that got the donated tickets so it will be exciting to see a good turnout AND fans that are there to see and root for SMU and not the visiting team...they hired a marketing guru in Kaplan and is working the 'grass roots' approach to ticket sales as he believes the marketing roll out campaigns like 'Pony Up" from last year doesn't work and it didn't work.

I keep hearing "they have busses ready for the fans...".
Busses? That to me sounds like DISD kids getting bussed in, or something of that sort.
Can someone confirm if this is the case? If not, what groups of people are getting bussed in, and from where?
I'm very happy to hear about butts in the seats but I'm not sure I can call 10000 DISD elementary school kids "fans there to see and root for SMU". If anything they're more likely to be related to someone who went to SFA, and far more likely to be running around playing not cheering for anyone.

If smu buys their ticket and busses them here, 99% will root for SMU. It will just be the malcontented rebel punks who will bite the hand that feeds them (I was never one of them

)
btw, if we can market to 10,000 kids at a time who become instant fans as will their parents, it's a great way to market

The stadium is going to have at least 10,000 empty seats if the DISD children are not there, so why question or complain about them not being hardcore fans? Heck that's part of the reason we are bringing them there. To expose SMU to communities that normally are not exposed to SMU. SMU is reaching out. Whats wrong with that? Would you rather the seats be empty so you could complain about that? SMU needs to build bridges and outreach to Dallas kids so they can recruit there in the future and not be considered an elitist outsider. The game is a sell-out, but you guys have to nit-pick everything to death.

Russ Potts great promoter, but he is on my list for the way he has been behaving as a squishy Republican in Virginia.

As I said, I am very happy they are there and much prefer them to empty seats.
I'm just trying to get a handle on where this sell out is coming from. If it is indeed DISD kids - great. Free tickets to local schools is the default/assumed method of increasing attendance, I'm happy about that and not complaining about that method. (I stand by my questioning of ponyscott's statement "a good turnout AND fans that are there to see and root for SMU and not the visiting team" - I don't think you can really make this statement about schools worth of kids and the statement itself kind of implies that maybe we're not talking about bringing in school kids here)
If it is NOT DISD/anyISD kids, I'd like to know about it. What innovative method is this Kaplan guy using? Who are these people?

quite frankly about the only way you could get a Sellout for a Stephen F. Austin game with SMU at 1-11 is to bus in a bunch of kids who don't know any better.

I just hope we don't get embarrassed here by June's efforts and prediction. Obviously, this game will not be "sold out" and obviously we will not set an attendance record. The opponent is just too weak and has no fan base and we are coming off an 1-11 season.
For example, you can go out to Ticketmaster right now and get 20 tickets together, this 2 days before the game. I will be happy with 25-28k there and I really do hope that SMU is not trying to spread propaganda with "very few tickets" remaining speech, if that is not true. Hell, that would scare off some fence sitters, thinking it will be too crowded or they couldn't get tickets anyway.

Can still get 20 seats in section 207, row 10 together per Ticketmaster.............
