I started school just after the death penalty which means I am associated with losing, making me a loser.

Wow, I feel like I was kicked in the nuts.

Heck... the same colors. and they also have a horse.

You are a large child Mestngo - I like that quality.

I still like geting down on the floor with building blocks, cars , and planes with my three year old grandson.

and what about Turner-he is really associated with losing. June Jones should get rid of him too.

We still haven't settled this argument?

I thought there was a solution that all 3 horses were going to be on the field and that peruna was going to do most of the stuff and the other two were going to be in the corner of the end zone.

I think both sides have to realize the other two horses are here to stay and that this solution tried to appeal to all even though the school positioned itself in a no-win scenario. It committed to Mrs. Pickens and couldn't back out of the deal.

Whether the Pickens family donated more to SMU than just the horses will uncover itself over time.

I'm on the peruna side but so it goes. We just move on.

Let's just enjoy the football season.

I beg to differ, it wasn't my worst post. I agree, one of my worst...but certainly the worst thread! I thought worrying about tearing down Ownby was a good point though about as important as worring about two geldings and a pony.

The other two horses are here to stay...until June Jones leaves.

Trust me. Seen this before. Most "New Traditions" (a contradictory term) die when the people who create them go away.

Anybody up for some "Mighty Mustangs Thunder?"

Peruna was a commercial success for a retail store. It was associated with the success of the program for a number of years...in basketball, football, swimming, track and tennis.

However, just as clothing styles have changed, so has Peruna. I has come to stand for atheltic failure for almost 25 years, not success. For many younger fans it is a runt, a small pony, a children's ride at the fair. It means nothing to the players. They find it an embarrassment and wanted a change to something more agressive that they could associate with a winning program.

We began to loose Peruna 25 years ago when we permitted the status quo of mediocrity to continue without challenge. We need to allow the program(s) to return and let the newer alumnia and players chose their own, rather than hang on and fight over a tradition that became mired in failure--why not start a fight over the loss of Ownby Stadium?

WHAT?!? They tore down Ownby Stadium!!!

I hate to bring this up, but it has been bothering me....

Should you have painted the chair legs red, too?

Maybe he can get the Seminoles to work on the chairs after they finish touching up Alpo and Gluestick. Seriously re: big horses though. It's kind of the same thing with a lot of the marketing stuff or the complaints on why there aren't a lot of licensed products floating around compared to TCU or Baylor much less Texas or A&M. It just seems like there's either not a lot of communication or there's an idiot running marketing. People will always complain about change but what really rankles is this is just dumb. Seminole Indians? OSU booster's wife getting a front seat? Freedom and Justice or 9 and 11 or whatever they're called? Fine: SMU has a losing tradition and everyone is a loser and it must all be changed. So how about changing to something a little more Texas? Like can we get Jerry Jones to redesign the cheerleaders' unis?

I am very sorry to have taken this thread as anything but a joke. Really, worrying about which indian tribe blesses two geldings, I thought someone was making this up, Mia Copa for my comments!

People get bent out of shape about carpetbaggery. I really think the Kappas and Thetas should bless the horses but they might be uncomfortable around geldings.
