The fact of the matter is we have a great hard working Coaching staff, we are getting good recruits, and SMU has done a great job with the Circle of Champions raising money. SMU will win big in football in the future...But if SMU is going to have an a lot better fan base anytime soon, they are going to have to do a better sales job. To start with,I'm not saying we will fill our stadium by putting booths or having young ladies selling tickets on the BLVD, but it is an area where we have thousands of potential fans already at our school the day of the game who are not planning to attend the game. You have got to try to sell these potential fans and encourage them to attend....Most people on here think it is a good idea to do it to try to increase sales. Yet our Athletic Dept. doesn't want to. They work hard at raising money, but they need to work a lot harder at ticket sales then they are in order to improve the situation.

Ray, people will come, Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway, not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you have a look around," you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person." They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it; for it is money they have and peace they lack.
And they'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces.
People will come, Ray.
Oh yeah Ray, they will come..
and then they will see the coeds in their short white dresses and cowboys boots drinking on the BLVD and we won't see them in the stadium.

Bikini Day at Ford-I'm serious-get one of those big portable above ground swimming pools, place it in the endzone and encourage everyone to take a dip if you get too hot. Advertise that you can sun tan all day and go out looking hot that night. Gee I miss Russ Potts and Brad Thomas-they would be all over this with multiple sun tanning sponsors. Instead we get "Sit in the Air Conditioning Day" which will make attendance look even sparser

You and I need to make this happen - along with my champagne room idea.
