Actually, the reads take place just after the snap. The WR route depends on how the DBs cover. The QB reads this on his first two steps and, hopefully, sees the same thing as the WRs. The QB then has several options to throw based on what the defense is doing.

Geez, I've seen that video and still I was totally off. Yes, the WRs do have different route options after the snap. My bad.

You wouldnt know, mostly cant even tell which receivers have option routes on a given play. I almost guarantee at least 2 of the receivers on any play have set routes they're told to run.

I haven't seen the bomb play with the WR running up the middle yet. All the misses have been sideline. We hit the up the middle one several times last year on DJ or AR.
