Now that we've moved to AQ time for a new coach
Yeah marketing dollars. I might just have to say yes.

Pretty amazing considering I've seen plenty of topics discussed over and over again by the same people for a while now. We get it. You think we need a different coach. Thanks for you input. Now come up with something else for God's sake.

I'm pretty sure Paul Johnson and his offense are doing just fine in the ACC.

Banjo -
The school got a bid because of over a decade of vision, spending, sacrifice, a lucky coaching break, and, as you pointed out, luck due to conference realignment. Frankly, over half of the current conference has those same criteria to put them in the Big East themselves, so they shouldn't have any issues with us. If they look down on us, I don't care - we will be in soon, it's their own personal problem now.
Jones isn't going anywhere, not should he. He is a proven program builder, nationally recognized as a gifted offensive mind, and has already had his name thrown around for open (or soon to be open) programs such as last year's Maryland job, Ole Miss, Arizona, and now possibly UCLA. He is ours for now, and if we're lucky, will be for 5 years or more. Hopefully he ends his career here, a decade or more from now.
The scheme is fine. Offenses are trendy, but the RnS, it's philosophy, precepts, and innovations are used universally, including in the spread, which everyone is in love with now. I believe it to be a well built offense to build a football team with, with it's use of niche players and 'work smarter, not harder' approach, and since it's employed by a former NFL head coach perfect to sell potential NFL caliber recruits with. The fact that almost no one uses it's pure approach is an advantage, not a liability.
We are winning with senior starters who were recruited by nobody - literally. Our senior starters came to us after Jones was the last coach in the country to take the job that year and had no real time to recuit with. He has taken them to legitimate conference contenders - i.e. he is outcoaching his competition. When he has legitimate talent to work with, the Big East will be in trouble. We got beat by two teams who have a great talent advantage over us and two of the finest coaching staffs in the conference - outside of our own.
I CAN'T SAY IT ANY BETTER - The coach and his scheme are fine. Telling everyone to fire them while we continue to improve - and we are improved from last year - makes no sense, and it's why people are bagging on you, regardless of your athletic resume. Even people here who don't care personally for the man can see the improvement. So until we take a nosedive, can you stop calling for his head?

BanjoBongo wrote:So against good teams he can't coach them up? (1) I brought us up from the dead but I don't understand how the hell you all don't see that he (2) style doesn't work against solid teams. We aren't going to be playing the cake walk like the C-USA anymore. We're going to get our lunch eatin up if we try pull what JJ throws out on the field
(1) YOU brought us up from the dead? Please explain -- this should be entertaining (briefly).
(2) How did it work against TCU? That 38 points and a win didn't do anything for you? Or are you suggesting TCU can't play defense (in which case you know even less than initially believed, which is saying something). Putting 38 points up on the Frogs is unimpressive but you're quaking in fear about the vaunted defenses we'll see from Cincinnati? Louisville? UCF?

BanjoBongo wrote:I know you all are sick of hearing this but when we move to AQ status I don't think JJ spread offense is going to fly in a traditional style conference. AF is triple option and BSU is a balanced attack but I think we need a coach that will help our defense out and eat up time. Leach isn't that style of coach but RichRod had great success in the BE with WVU
Most offenses in the Big East are spread offenses not traditional style offenses.

Yes. Got something better to do?
Re: Now that we've moved to AQ time for a new coach
If these threads about firing JJ don't stop, Dooby and I will be forced to start putting up Kathy Bates pictures again. And who knows what Pony 94 will add to that mix along with jt.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
