As much as I can't stand his devotion to the 1980's R&S there is no way any of this happens without having a nationally known and respected HC like June Jones. If nothing else JJ's lasting legacy at SMU will be that he was the man who turned around the culture of the school and brought about the necessary administrative changes needed for us to win.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Scheme's tend to not work so great, regardless of type, when your entire team plays like dog [deleted]

You are clearly just trying to start with everyone, or you are just a complete idiot. Probably both.

Great. Players screwed it up.
BB, are you a UConn troll?

That's absolutely ridiculous. All the good recruiting talent is just coming in. Give him a few years and let's see what he can do with BCS talent in a BCS conference. Now keep in mind the competition is going to get MUCH tougher, so even seeing 6-6, 7-5 seasons in the Big East is trending upward. If he can't get to that point in a few years in the BE, then yeah, I'll have this conversation with you. But for now, get on your knees and be grateful for what this man has helped SMU accomplish.

A dumb thread to start on the day we are headed to the Big East & BCS access.

Did you ever play sports as a child?
It's called a bad game idiot. Everyone has them every once in awhile. Sometimes a few in a row.

BanjoBongo wrote:Listen the only reason we got a bid is cause ATM left the Big 12 then TCU took ATM"s spot which left us to move into TCU's spot along with 5 other schools. A 7-5 record in the C-USA wasn't the reason why we got a bid to an AQ, our team its that great and if you think it is then you're delusional. We got into the BE because of our location. USM as over the past 10 years a much better and consistent football program then SMU but USM is a shithole with small upside.
and that has ZERO to do with who our coach is.

Responding to this post. You all act like its all JJ accomplishments is the reason why we got into the BE. If going 7-5 in a mid major conf deserves an AQ bid I've got a long list of others schools that deserve a bid. We got in b/c or the school and loaction, not our football or bball programs
i don't think anyone is saying that it is JUST june jones that got us here today. it's a combination of a lot of things, but rest assured, without moderate success on the field and court (thanks Doh and 20 wins last year), which is a result of the AD showing a commitment to competing at the next level, we wouldn't be here.

Yeah I did, I played sports in college
Oh snap, I'd love to know which one....
Must've been for a pretty awesome team/college because it's pretty amazing throughout your sports life (especially college!) your teams and coaches never hit a speed bump and lost of few games in a row or had a few poor showings in a row. Never happened? Because you seem to suggest that whenever a team goes flat for a game or two the coach should be replaced.

Re: Now that we've moved to AQ time for a new coach
In order to get into an AQ you have to show you are serious about your athletic program. We were not for 20+ years. The hiring of Jones showed we were serious and Jones showed he could turn the football program around. He is the primary force behind where we are now. RGT and SO took what Jones accomplished and sold it to the BE.
